The Line: San Diego State Aztecs -19 -- Over/Under:
The Wyoming Cowboys butt heads with the San Diego State Aztecs at Qualcomm Stadium.
It’s been a long season for the Wyoming Cowboys with not enough points or defense which explains their 1-9 record. The Cowboys have dropped three in a row following a 26-7 loss to visiting Colorado State. The defense gave up 348 yards but the offense managed just 239 yards and gave the ball away four times and held the ball for under 23 minutes. Quarterback Nick Smith connected on just 10-21 for 109 yards and an interception with James Price snagging three balls for 31 yards. The rushing attack didn’t do a whole lot with top runner Brian Hill logged 65 yards and a touchdown but he needed 21 carries.
The San Diego Aztecs have been turning it on with contributions from both sides of the ball with five consecutive victories after a 41-17 win at Colorado State for a 5-0 record and sole possession of first of the MWC West division. The Aztecs once again played well in all areas with a 456-368 yardage edge that was made even better with four turnovers including a pick six. Quarterback Maxwell Smith connected on 11-14 for 180 yards with a 32 yard scoring strike to Donnel Pumphrey. Pumphrey was also a force on the ground with a 20 carry, 121 yard effort with a pair of trips to the end zone while Rashaad Penny adding another 54 yards.
The Cowboys are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games after accumulating less than 275 total yards in their previous game and are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games in November while going 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games following a bye week. The Aztecs are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games overall and are 4-0 ATS vs. a team with a losing record while going 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games after accumulating more than 200 yards rushing in their previous game. The over is 4-0 in the last 4 meetings in San Diego State and is 4-0 in the last 4 meetings while the road team is 4-0 ATS in their last 4 meetings. The more I see from the Aztecs the more I like this team…
