The Navy Midshipmen and San Diego State Aztecs play Tuesday night in the Poinsettia Bowl at Qualcomm Stadium.

The Navy Midshipmen have won five of their last six games and are playing in their 11th bowl game in 12 years. Keenan Reynolds is completing 47.1 percent of his passes for six touchdowns and three interceptions. Reynolds has five total touchdowns and one pick in his last two games, and Navy has 14 passing plays of 25 or more yards. Jamir Tillman and Demond Brown have combined for close to 500 receiving yards and three touchdowns while Ryan Williams-Jenkins has four receptions in his last four games. Navy’s ground game is averaging 6.2 yards per carry, as Reynolds and Noah Copeland have combined for more than 2,000 rushing yards and 26 touchdowns. Defensively, the Navy Midshipmen are allowing 28.3 points, 410.3 yards, and they’ve forced eight sacks and 15 turnovers. Jordan Drake leads Navy with 96 tackles and Will Anthony has 10 tackles for loss.

The San Diego State Aztecs have won three of their last four games and are playing their fifth straight bowl game. Quinn Kaehler is completing 56.4 percent of his passes for nine touchdowns and 10 interceptions. Kaehler has two touchdowns and two picks in his last three games, and San DIego State has 20 passing plays of 25 or more yards. Eric Judge and Ezell Ruffin have combined for more than 800 receiving yards and four touchdowns while Lloyd Mills has five of his 22 receptions in his last three games. San Diego State’s ground game is averaging 5.4 yards per carry, as Donnel Pumphrey leads the way with 1,755 rushing yards and 19 touchdowns. Defensively, the San Diego State Aztecs are allowing 20.1 points, 337.6 yards, and they’ve forced 24 sacks and 22 turnovers. Calvin Munson leads SDSU with 78 tackles and Malik Smith has three picks.

The Midshipmen are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 non-conference games and 18-5 ATS in their last 23 vs. MWC. The Aztecs are 5-2-1 ATS in their last 8 home games and 11-5-1 ATS in their last 17 games following a S.U. win.

The difference in this game for me is the home field, as the San Diego State Aztecs are playing in their house. San Diego State beat Navy when they played in the 2010 Poinsettia Bowl, and I expect the result to remain the same this time around as well.
