The Weber State Wildcats and the San Diego State Aztecs will match up in college football action on Saturday.
Weber State is coming off a 10-3 mark in the 2018 season, going 7-1 in Big Sky Conference play. The Wildcats took out Southeast Missouri State in the second round of the FCS Playoffs but fell to Maine in the quarterfinals.
Head coach Jay Hill returns to the Weber State sideline in his sixth season in 2019. he’ll be joined by second-year offensive coordinator Dave Schramm as the team goes for another conference championship.
Over on the San Diego State side, they finished 7-6 overall in 2018, posting a 4-4 mark in the Mountain West Conference. the Aztecs earned a berth in the Frisco Bowl, but were shut out 27-0 by Ohio.
Coming back for his ninth season is SDSU head coach Rocky Long, and he’ll be joined by Jeff Horton as OC (fifth year) and DC Zach Arnett in his second year in that role.
The Wildcats are 5-1 ATS in their last six on grass and the under is 5-2 in the last seven games overall. The under is 4-0 in Weber State’s last four games on grass as well.
Meanwhile, the Aztecs are 0-5 ATS in their last five home games and 1-7 ATS in their last eight overall. The under is 6-1 in San Diego State’s last seven games in August.
Weber State is in line for another solid season, but they’ll have their hands full dealing with Eastern Washington and UC Davis, who stand in the way atop the conference.
As for San Diego State, they shouldn’t have a whole lot of troubles with any team outside of Fresno State in the West Division, but taking the conference will be another matter all together.
At first glance this looks like a pretty fun game and may very well be close. I’m going to stick with Weber State to come out of the gate strong and get a cover here.
