The Tulane Green Wave visit Gerald J. Ford Stadium in Dallas, Texas for an American Athletic West Conference finale against the SMU Mustangs on Saturday. Tulane’s comeback bid against the UCF Knights fell short last week, giving the Green Wave their second straight loss. Stephon Huderson returned a kickoff 98 yards for a score for Tulane. Corey Dauphine ran for two touchdowns and the Green Wave got within 10 after his 7-yard TD run in the fourth quarter.

After stopping the Knights on downs, Tulane's Justin McMillan threw a 7-yard TD pass to Jalen McCleskey on fourth-and-goal with 26 seconds to play but UCF recovered the ensuing onside kick to seal it.

The Green Wave’s season started off promising, as they were 4-1 in their first five games. But they’ve since dropped four out of five, falling to 4th in the West of the AAC.

SMU is coming off a loss to Navy, despite leading 21-10 at halftime. Navy quarterback Malcolm Perry accounted for 357 yards of offense and scored the go-ahead touchdown with just over 6 minutes left in the game to finish things off. Mustangs quarterback Shane Buechele threw for 251 yards, 2 touchdowns and 0 interceptions.

SMU had been 8-0 before being tripped up by Memphis a couple weeks ago in a shootout, 54-48. They were able to bounce back with a shootout victory of their own against East Carolina, but last weekend’s setback could severely impact their bowl placement depending how the rest of the year shakes out.

Green Wave are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games following a straight up loss.
Over is 4-1 in Green Wave last 5 games following a straight up loss.
Mustangs are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games after allowing more than 450 total yards in their previous game.
Over is 7-1 in Mustangs last 8 games on fieldturf.

Neither team will advance to the AAC Championship game but both are bowl eligible and a win here would go a long way in determining where they end up in the postseason, especially SMU. That may be all the motivation the Mustangs need. Final Score Prediction, SMU wins a wild one, 45-40.
