Alabama is 5-1 ATS in their last 6 conference games and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games overall while the over is 4-1-1 in their last 6 games following a win. South Carolina is 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games against a team with a winning record and 11-5-3 ATS in their last 19 conference games while the under is 19-7 in their last 26 games following a win. The road team is 4-1 ATS in the last 5 meetings between these two teams and the underdog is 4-1 ATS in the last 5 meetings between these two teams as well.
I’ve said before that Alabama takes their foot off of the gas against lesser teams and sometimes allows them to sneak in the backdoor for a cover, just like we saw against New Mexico State. Also, two of Alabama’s three losses all-time to South Carolina have come in the Gamecocks’ backyard, so the points are definitely worth a look given South Carolina’s offensive start to the season. However, I’ve also said that Alabama gets up for rivalry games and has a tendency to not take their foot off of the gas against a team in conference as the Tide usually want to send a message to the rest of the SEC. I want to take Alabama, but this line on the road is very intimidating, so I’m going to side with the over. Both teams have shown some serious offensive skill in the early going, and I think the two can combine for enough fireworks to push this one over the number.
