The Alabama Crimson Tide and the South Carolina Gamecocks meet in a week 3 SEC conference college football matchup from Williams Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The Alabama Crimson Tide will look to build on their 2-0 start to the second with a second straight rout, defeating New Mexico State by a final score of 62-10 last time out. Tua Tagovailoa has thrown for 563 yards and 7 touchdowns on 42 of 55 passing for a 76.4% completion percentage. Najee Harris leads Alabama with 120 rushing yards and a touchdown while Jerry Jeudy is Alabama’s top receiver with 18 receptions for 240 yards and 4 touchdowns. Jaylen Waddle has 142 receiving yards and DeVonta Smith has 10 receptions for 101 yards. Defensively, Xavier McKinney leads Alabama with 14 tackles for the Tide this season. As a team, Alabama is averaging 557.5 yards of total offense and 52 points per game this season.

The South Carolina Gamecocks will look to build on their first win of the season, evening their record at 1-1 after a 72-10 walloping of Charleston Southern last time out. Ryan Hilinski leads South Carolina with 282 yards passing on 24 of 30 passing for an 80% completion percentage with 2 touchdowns and an interception. Rico Dowdle leads the Gamecocks with 149 rushing yards and a pair of touchdowns while Kevin Harris has 147 rushing yards and 3 touchdowns. Tavien Feaster has 136 rushing yards and Mon Denson has 118 rushing yards while Bryan Edwards leads South Carolina’s receiving group with 119 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns. Defensively, Ernest Jones and T.J. Brunson each have a team-high 13 tackles while Javon Kinlaw has a pair of sacks for South Carolina this season. As a team, South Carolina is averaging 522.5 yards of total offense and 46 points per game this season.

Alabama is 5-1 ATS in their last 6 conference games and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games overall while the over is 4-1-1 in their last 6 games following a win. South Carolina is 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games against a team with a winning record and 11-5-3 ATS in their last 19 conference games while the under is 19-7 in their last 26 games following a win. The road team is 4-1 ATS in the last 5 meetings between these two teams and the underdog is 4-1 ATS in the last 5 meetings between these two teams as well.

I’ve said before that Alabama takes their foot off of the gas against lesser teams and sometimes allows them to sneak in the backdoor for a cover, just like we saw against New Mexico State. Also, two of Alabama’s three losses all-time to South Carolina have come in the Gamecocks’ backyard, so the points are definitely worth a look given South Carolina’s offensive start to the season. However, I’ve also said that Alabama gets up for rivalry games and has a tendency to not take their foot off of the gas against a team in conference as the Tide usually want to send a message to the rest of the SEC. I want to take Alabama, but this line on the road is very intimidating, so I’m going to side with the over. Both teams have shown some serious offensive skill in the early going, and I think the two can combine for enough fireworks to push this one over the number.
