|Date & Time||Saturday November 21, 2015, 8:00 PM (EST)|
The Line: Southern Methodist Mustangs -3 -- Over/Under:
The SMU Mustangs shoot for their second win when the Tulane Green Wave come to town.
The Tulane Green Wave have generally struggled to score and keep opponents out of the end zone but they had just enough in a 34-31 win at Army in week eleven. Both teams finished with around 362 yards but the key was Tulane did not let the Black Knights option go crazy with under a four yard average. Quarterback Tanner Lee completed 14-29 for 252 yards with a pair of touchdowns and an interception with Teddy Veal leading the receiving corps with four receptions for 123 yards including a 90 yard scoring strike. Dontrell Hilliard was the only Tulane runner of note with 91 yards on14 carries.
The Southern Methodist Mustangs have shown some improvement but that is difficult to say for a team that has dropped eight consecutive contests capped off by a 55-14 defeat at Navy. The Midshipmen won the yardage battle 484-268 with over 400 yards coming on the ground wile SMU gave the ball away twice and had less then 25 minutes of possession. Quarterback Matt Davis could not hit receivers consistently, going 8-22 for 124 yards with a touchdown and interception with Kevin Thomas catching a 32 yard scoring toss. The Mustangs had just as much difficulty running the ball with top rusher Xavier Jones totaling 45 yards on nine touches.
The Green Wave are 4-0 ATS vs. a team with a losing record and the under is 4-0 in Green Wave last 4 conference games while the Green Wave are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games on fieldturf. The Mustangs are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games overall and are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games in November while going 0-4 ATS in their last 4 home games. This is probably a game to avoid but I’ll be looking at it through the week…
