The Line: Stanford Cardinal -8.5 -- Over/Under:
The Oregon Ducks will travel to play the Stanford Cardinal in a Pac-12 conference showdown this Saturday.
The Stanford Cardinal are coming off of a win against Colorado in their last game. The Stanford offense is averaging 37.1 points per game with 440.8 yards per game. Quarterback Kevin Hogan leads the Stanford offense with 1831 yards, 16 touchdowns, and 6 interceptions. Christian McCaffrey is the leading rusher for Stanford with 1207 yards and 6 touchdowns. McCaffrey also catches passes for Stanford with 325 yards and 2 touchdowns. Austin Hooper is the leading receiver for Stanford with 356 yards and 5 touchdowns. The Stanford defense is giving up 20.2 points per game with 338.7 yards per game. Stanford’s defense has 17 sacks, 2 fumble recoveries, and 7 interceptions. Stanford is 8-1 this year and can clinch the Pac-12 North with a victory this season. Stanford uses a balanced offensive attack that allows them to score the 18th best points per game in the nation.
The Oregon Ducks are coming off of a win against California in their last game. The Oregon offense is averaging 42.2 points per game with 543.6 yards per game. Quarterback Vernon Adams Jr. leads the Oregon offense with 1468 yards, 14 touchdowns, and 5 interceptions. Royce Freeman leads the Oregon rushing attack with 1289 yards and 11 touchdowns. Bralon Addison is the Oregon leading receiver with 532 yards and 6 touchdowns. The Oregon defense is giving up 37.2 points per game with 489.6 yards per game. The Oregon defense has 28 sacks, 6 fumble recoveries, and 10 interceptions on the season. Oregon is 6-3 this season but is better than their record indicates. Quarterback Vernon Adams Jr. has been hurt this season, which really hurt the Oregon offense for a few weeks. Adams Jr. is healthy now and the Oregon offense is rolling once again. However, the Oregon defense has been very bad this whole season and is also to blame for the 3 losses.
Oregon is 12-2 ATS in their last 14 conference games. Oregon is 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall. The under is 4-1 in Oregon’s last 5 road games. Stanford is 6-1 ATS in their last 7 games against a team with a winning record. Stanford is 7-1 ATS in their last 8 games following an ATS win. The over is 5-1 in Stanford’s last 6 games against a team with a winning record.
This will be a great game to watch and I am expecting a very tight game throughout. Oregon puts up a lot of points, but their defense has let them down pretty much all year. Stanford also has the ability to put up points and has a better defense than Oregon does. I think this game will be high scoring but I am picking Oregon to keep this game within single digits, if they don’t win it outright.
