CFB | Utah Utes (6-3) at Stanford Cardinal (5-4)

The Stanford Cardinal and the Utah Utes face off on Saturday in Palo Alto in a Pac-12 college football matchup.

The Stanford Cardinal has taken a step back on the football field this season and enter this game with a 5-4 record. The Stanford offense has struggled to score averaging Stanford is averaging 24.7 points and 387.8 yards per game led by QB Kevin Hogan who has completed 63.9 percent of his passes with 13 touchdowns and seven interceptions. Remound Wright has gained 359 yards and with two touchdowns to lead the Cardinal ground attack and TY Montgomery is Stanford’s leading receiver with 56 catches and three touchdowns. The Stanford defense is allowing 16.1 points and 281.1 yards per game with just nine takeaways and 28 sacks. Blake Martinez has 74 tackles and 4.5 sacks, Jordan Richards has 61 tackles, and A.J. Tarpley has 58 tackles. With Stanford playing at such a high level for so many years this season falls short of expectations.

The Utah Utes have had a solid year but they have lost their last two games. Utah lost an overtime battle at Arizona State and they were blown out at home by Oregon this past Saturday. The Utah offense is averaging 32.7 points and 380.8 yards per game guided by QB Travis Wilson who has completed 57.5 percent of his passes with 11 touchdowns and two interceptions. Devontae Booker has rushed for 1055 yards and eight touchdowns and he has 21 receptions and two receiving touchdowns and Kenneth Scott has 29 receptions to lead the Utes. The Utah defense allows 24.6 points and 398.9 yards per game with 16 takeaways and 43 sacks. Jared Norris has 83 tackles including 4.0 sacks, Nate Orchard has 63 tackles including 13 sacks, and Gionni Paul has 59 tackles and four interceptions. Utah has shown they can play against Pac-12 competition and beat Stanford last season.

Stanford is 4-1 against the spread in their last five home games, 6-1 against the spread following a game that they didn’t cover the point spread, and 6-0 against the spread following a loss. Utah is 4-0 against the spread in their last four road games, 4-1 against the spread in their last five Pac-12 games, and 7-1 against the spread against a team with a winning record.

The total in this one is set agressively low ad my free pick here is going to be the over as I see the number being to agressive on the low side.
