The Line: Syracuse Orange -21.5 -- Over/Under:
The Louisville Cardinals will take on the Syracuse Orange at Carrier Dome on Friday in ACC college football action.
Louisville sits at 2-7 on the season. The Cards’ wins have come against Indiana State and Western Kentucky, but otherwise they’ve lost to Alabama, Virginia, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Boston College, Wake Forest and Clemson.
In the Clemson game, Louisville QB Jawon Pass put up 110 yards and two picks, with Colin Wilson rushing for 26 yards. Jaylen Smith was the top Louisville receiver on his 63 yards from five catches.
Over on the Syracuse side, they’ve got a record of 7-2 this year. The Orange lost to Clemson and Pittsburgh, and have taken out Western MI, Wagner, Florida State, Connecticut, UNC, NC State and Wake Forest.
In the Deacons game, Syracuse QB Eric Dungey put up 157 yards while also leading the team in rushing with 119 yards and a score. Sean Riley was the top Orange receiver with his 64 yards on eight receptions.
The Cardinals are 2-6 ATS in their last eight Friday games and 6-20 ATS in their last 26 games overall. Louisville is 3-13 ATS versus a team with a winning record and 0-4 ATS in their last four conference games.
Meanwhile, Syracuse is 8-0-1 ATS in their last nine following a straight-up win and 3-1-1 ATS in their last five home games. The Orange are 1-5-2 ATS versus a team with a losing record and 6-2-1 ATS in their last nine overall.
This is something of a lost season for Louisville, but they’re not necessarily playing like they’ve given up—except on the defensive side at times. The Cardinals have given up at least 38 points in each of their last four and allowed a whopping 77 to Clemson.
As for the Orange, they’re looking to keep rolling and didn’t show much of a hangover after the big win over a tough NC State team, putting up 41 on Wake in their last appearance.
I like Syracuse to keep it going here so I’m taking them to cover.
