The Temple Owls welcome the Connecticut Huskie to the Lincoln Financial Field for the season finale’.
The Connecticut Huskies enter the last game of the season Bowl eligible at 6-5 although a win would make them an almost automatic selection. The Huskies put themselves in a good position by winning three in a row capped off with a 20-17 victory over previously unbeaten Houston. Both teams finished with around 315 yards but UConn gave up a 94 yard kick return while the Cougars turned the ball over four times. UConn had three players throwing the ball with Bryant Schierreffs going 1-1 with a four yard TD while Garrett Anderson was 1-1 with a 45 yard scoring strike followed by Tim Boyle who completed 12-22 for 110 yards. Arkeel Newsome led the Huskies on the ground with 114 yards while Noel Thomas caught seven passes for 108 yards and two scores.
The Temple Owls bounced back from a disappointing loss to South Florida by routing Memphis 31-12 which means they can win the AAC East with a win versus Connecticut. A 17-0 run in the 4th quarter secured the win but the Owls dominated yardage 461-232. Quarterback PJ Walker gave Temple a solid game under center with 261 passing yards with a pair of touchdowns and an interception on 14-26. Robby Anderson led the owls in receiving with five receptions for 80 yards while David Hood paced the rushing attack with 61 yards and a score with Walker and Jager Gardner combined for 92 yards on 19 touches.
The under is 4-0 in Huskies last 4 conference games and is 4-0 in Huskies last 4 games overall while the Huskies are 0-5 ATS in their last 5 games following a ATS win. The Owls are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games after accumulating more than 450 total yards in their previous game and are 6-1 ATS in their last 7 games after allowing less than 20 points in their previous game while the over is 4-1 in Owls last 5 games following a ATS win. The under is 6-0 in the last 6 meetings and the Huskies are 1-8 ATS in their last 9 meetings while the underdog is 6-1 ATS in their last 7 meetings. Right now I’ll go with Temple and see how a win effects the postseason for both teams…
