The Temple Owls and the Memphis Tigers travel to Lincoln Financial Field to tangle with the Temple Owls.
The Memphis Tigers drive for a postseason berth continues with a visit to face conference rival the Temple Owls on Friday night. The Tigers have won consecutive games and improved to 5-3 on the year with a 40-20 victory over visiting Tulsa. Memphis shook off a sluggish first half with a 20-6 run over the final 30 minutes to win going away. The yardage wasn't all that different but the Golden Hurricane were all passing while Memphis was run heavy but also capable at throwing. Paxton Lynch was decent in the air by hitting 18-31 for 183 yards with 47 rushing yards and a score. Brandon Hayes was the Tigers go to guy on the ground with 197 yards on 28 carries with 14 yard, 30 yard and 51 yard touchdown gallops.
The Temple Owls hope to string together a few wins when the Menphis Tigers come to town for some Friday night actiion. Temple played their best game of the season thus far with a 20-10 upset of visiting #18 Memphis in week ten to up their record to 5-3. The boxscore says the wrong team won with the Pirates holding a 432-135 advantage in yards but ECU fumbled seven times and lost five with Tavon Young returning one 63 yards for a touchdown. PJ Lynch connected on 7-19 for 70 yards with leading rusher Kenneth Harper totaling 29 yards on 14 touches with a pair of touchdowns but the Owls took complete advantage of some prime field position and needed to because the ossense struggled to move the chains and totaled just ten first downs.
The Tigers are 3-0-1 ATS in their last 4 road games and are 5-0-1 ATS vs. a team with a winning record while the over is 4-0 in Tigers last 4 Friday games. For Temple the Owls are 5-1 ATS vs. a team with a winning record and the over is 5-1 in Owls last 6 games after accumulating less than 275 total yards in their previous game with the Owls going 5-1 ATS in their last 6 home games vs. a team with a winning road record. Temple looked as if the dominated East Carolina until you read a very strange boxscore where mistakes handed the Owls points. I think the Owls will need plenty of turnovers as well to beat Memphis but I don't think the Tigers will be as generous...
