The Line: Tennessee Volunteers -7 -- Over/Under:
The Tennessee Volunteers and the Arkansas Razorbacks face off on Saturday in a SEC college football matchup of teams desperate for a win.
The Tennessee Volunteers are coming off of a brutal loss at Florida where they let a sure winner slip away late, the second time they have lost in that fashion this year. The Tennessee offense is averaging 41.2 points and 431 yards per game and have turned the ball over just twice. Vols QB Joshua Dobbs is completing 58.2 percent of his passes with five touchdowns and one interception and he has rushed for 243 yards and two touchdowns. Jalen Hurd is Tennessee’s leading rusher with 402 yards and seven touchdowns and Ethan Wolf is the top receiver with 11 catches and two touchdowns and Josh Malone has nine catches. The Tennessee defense is allowing 24.8 points and 394 yards per game with four interceptions, three fumble recoveries, and eight sacks. Jalen Reeves-Maybin leads the Volunteers with 41 tackles including three sacks, Derek Barnett has 22 tackles, and Todd Kelly Jr. has 20 tackles. Tennessee has led in the fourth quarter of every game this year but they have won just two.
The Arkansas Razorbacks have lost their last three games as they look to stop the bleeding and stop their season from getting away from them. The Arkansas offense is averaging 26.2 points and 471.5 yards per game and they have turned the ball over five times. Razorbacks QB Brandon Allen has completed 70.1 percent of his passes for seven touchdowns and three interceptions. Alex Collins leads the Arkansas rushing attack with 502 yards and four touchdowns and Drew Morgan is he Hogs leading receiver with 18 catches and three touchdowns and Hunter Henry has 17 catches. The Arkansas defense is allowing 23 points and 357.8 yards per game with three interceptions, two fumble recoveries, and three sacks. Brooks Ellis leads Arkansas with 28 tackles, Jeremiah Ledbetter has 22 tackles, and Rohan Gaines has 21 tackles. Arkansas looked like they had a chance to win last week against Texas A&M but they let it slip away.
Tennessee is 4-1 against the spread following a loss, 6-2 against the spread in their last eight home games, and 2-5 against the spread against a team with a losing record. Arkansas is 10-4 against the spread against a team with a winning record, 4-1 against the spread in their last five road games, and 11-5 against the spread in their last 16 games. The home team has covered the point spread in sx of the last seven meetings of these two.
This should be a good game and we can make a fairly strong argument for both teams but what I really see is a tight one so getting a touchdown is just too good to pass up.
