The Line: Tennessee Volunteers -2.5 -- Over/Under: 55
The Tennessee Volunteers and the Florida Gators face off on Saturday in Knoxville for a SEC college football rivalry game.
The Tennessee Volunteers are 2-2 for the season with the losses coming at Oklahoma and then last week at Georgia. The Tennessee offense is averaging 28.5 points per game and it is led by QB Justin Worley who has completed 60 percent of his passes with nine touchdowns and three interceptions. Jalen Hurd leads the Vols ground attack averaging 4.6 yards per carry with two touchdowns and he has seven receptions with another touchdown. Marquez North and Alton Brown each have 17 receptions to lead the UT receivers and Ethan Wolf has 13 receptions. The Volunteer defense is allowing 23.8 points per game with five interceptions, three fumble recoveries, and eight sacks. A.J. Johnson is he leader of the Tennessee defense with 46 tackles, Jalen Reeves-Maybin has 35 tackles and two sacks, and Camron Sutton has two interceptions. Tennessee is a team on the rise and are gaining confidence by the week.
The Florida Gators are coming off of a bye week after a disappointing three touchdown loss at Alabama where the offense just fell flat on their face. The Florida offense is averaging 40.7 points per game and are led by QB Jeff Driskel who has completed 56 percent of his passes with five touchdowns and three interceptions. Matt Jones leads the ground attack for the Gators averaging 5.3 yards per carry with two touchdowns as is Kelvin Taylor. Demarcus Robinson has 23 catches to lead the UF receivers and Clay Burton has 12. The Florida defense is allowing 24 points per game with five interceptions, seven fumble recoveries, and six sacks. Michael Taylor and Antonio Morrison leads the Gators defense with 21 tackles each and Brian Poole has 18 tackles. Florida seemed to breeze through the lesser opponents but they had nothing in the second half in Tuscaloosa.
Tennessee is 5-11 against the spread in their last 16 home games, 7-18-1 against the spread against a team with a winning record, and 5-15-1 against the spread following a game that they covered the point spread. Florida is 3-11 against the spread following a loss, 1-4 against the spread in their last five games, and 2-5 against the spread in their last seven SEC games. Florida is 11-5-2 against the spread in the last 18 meetings against Tennessee.
The total is set at 55 but I don’t see the score getting that high as this one is played between the 20’s so my free pick is the under. My stronger pick is on who will cover the spread and I will post that in the Premium Area as well as on the App.
