The Line: Tennessee Volunteers +2.5 -- Over/Under: 59.5
The Tennessee Volunteers and the Georgia Bulldogs face off on Saturday at Neyland Stadium in a SEC college football matchup.
The Tennessee Volunteers are 2-3 so far this season going 0-2 in the SEC and losing three of their last four games. The Tennessee offense is averaging 37 points and 417.8 yards per game and they have turned the ball over three times. Vols QB Joshua Dobbs has completed 57.5 percent of his passes with five touchdowns and an interception and he has rushed for 250 yards and three touchdowns. Jalen Hurd leads the Tennessee rushing attack with 492 yards and seven touchdowns and Eli Wolf and Josh Malone are the leading receivers with 12 catches each. The Tennessee defense is allowing 24.6 points and 414 yards per game with four interceptions, three fumble recoveries, and eight sacks. Jalen Reeves Maybin leads UT with 51 tackles and Brian Randolph and Derek Barnett each have 25 tackles. The expectations were high for Tennessee this season and this is already a must win game.
The Georgia Bulldogs are coming off of a tough home loss tot Alabama where they were absolutely handled as their record fell to 4-1 overall and 2-1 in the SEC. The Georgia offense is averaging 38.4 points and 452.8 yards per game and they have turned the ball over seven times. Bulldog QB Greyson Lambert has completed 67.4 percent of his passes with seven touchdowns and an interception and Brice Ramsey has seen action as well but he hasn’t been very effective. The Georgia rushing attack is anchored by Nick Chubb who has rushed for 745 yards and seven touchdowns and Malcolm Mitchell is the top receiver with 23 catches. The UGA defense is allowing 18.4 points and 294.4 yards per game with five interceptions, two fumble recoveries, and eight sacks. Tim Kimbrough leads Georgia with 33 tackles and Jordan Jenkins and Jake Ganus each have 29 tackles. Georgia will need to put last week behind them as the SEC East is still very much within reach.
Tennessee is 5-2 against the spread following a game that they didn’t cover the point spread, 4-11 against the spread against a team with a winning record, and 0-4 against the spread in their last four SEC games. Georgia is 4-1 against the spread in their last five road games, 1-7 against the spread following a double digit home loss, and 4-0 against the spread following a loss. Georgia is 2-7 against the spread in their last nine games against Tennessee.
I see the total at 59.5 and I still see this one going over so that is my free pick. My stronger pick is onthe winning team against the spread and I will post that in the Premium Area.
