Marvin Gentry-USA TODAY Sports

The Texas State Bobcats will take on the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns in college football activity from TSU Bobcat Stadium on Saturday.

Louisiana comes into this one with a 1-3 record so far. The Cajuns took a 49-17 win over Grambling State in the opener, but since have lost to MS State, Coastal Carolina and Alabama.

In the Alabama game, Louisiana QB Andre Nunez put up 75 yards with a TD and two picks, and Trey Ragas led the team in rushing with 111 yards and a score. Ja’Marcus Bradley was the top Cajuns receive with three grabs for 24 yards and a TD.

As for Texas State, they’re sitting at 1-3 on the season as well. The Bobcats got a win over TX Southern on September 8, but otherwise have lost to Rutgers, South Alabama and UTSA.

In the UTSA loss, Texas State QB Tyler Vitt put up 192 yards with two picks and two TDs, and Robert Brown led an anemic rush with three carries for a paltry 17 yards. Keenen Brown was the lead receiver for the Bobcats with nine grabs for 124 yards and a score.

The Cajuns are 15-5-1 ATS in their last 21 road games versus a team with a winning home record and 0-4 ATS in the last four following an ATS win. The over is 4-0 in Louisiana’s last four road games and the under is 5-0-1 in their last six in October.

Meanwhile, the Bobcats are 2-5-1 ATS in their last eight on turf and 1-3-1 ATS in their last five overall. Texas State is 1-4 ATS in their last five home games and 2-10 ATS in their last 12 following an ATS win.

There’s really not much to gather from Louisiana’s loss to the Alabama buzzsaw, as the Cajuns were outscored 49-0 in the first half alone. Louisiana relies on a solid running game, but when their defense is leaking points like a sieve it’s not the most optimal offensive strategy.

Texas State has done a pretty good job of putting points on the board, aside from the Rutgers opener. In the other three games they’ve scored at least 21 points. I think the Bobcats can hang around here, and possibly sneak in for a cover in what should be a fun game to watch.
