The Wyoming Cowboys and the Texas State Bobcats meet in a week 2 college football matchup from Jim Wacker Field at Bobcat Stadium on Saturday night.
The Wyoming Cowboys will look to build off of an impressive season-opening 37-31 win over Missouri. Sean Chambers threw for 92 yards on 6 of 16 passing while also leading the Cowboys in rushing with 120 yards and a touchdown. Xazavian Valladay had 118 yards on the ground and a touchdown while Titus Swen added 45 rushing yards and Trey Smith chipped in a rushing score as well. Raghib Ismail Jr. led Wyoming’s receiving corps with a pair of receptions for 42 yards. Defensively, Josiah Hall had 1.5 sacks while C.J. Coldon and Alijah Haliburton each had a fumble recovery with Coldon taking his to the end zone for a defensive TD while Haliburton led Wyoming with 13 tackles.
The Texas State Bobcats will look to bounce back after dropping their season opener in a 41-7 beatdown loss at the hands of Texas A&M. Tyler Vitt threw for 51 yards and 2 interceptions on 9 of 15 passing before Gresch Jensen took over, throwing for 160 yards, a touchdown and 2 picks of his own. Anthony D. Taylor led the Bobcats in rushing with 19 rushing yards while Hutch White led the receiving group with 7 receptions for 60 yards and Travis Graham had 4 grabs for 53 yards and the Bobcats’ lone touchdown reception. Defensively, Bryan London II had an interception and Frankie Griffin had a fumble recovery while Jarron Morris led the Bobcats with 5 tackles.
Wyoming is 7-1 ATS in their last 8 games against the Sun Belt and 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games overall while the under is 7-1-1 in their last 9 road games. Texas State is 3-7 ATS in their last 10 home games and 2-5 ATS in their last 7 non-conference games while the under is 4-0 in their last 4 games overall.
Texas State getting a free touchdown is tempting considering we haven’t seen much as expected against a much better team like Texas A&M. However, the Bobcats also need to show that they’re able to show up when called upon, and right now I just don’t trust Texas State’s offense with the inconsistency at QB and the struggles in the running game. Wyoming was really impressive in winning their opener against Missouri and I just like what I’ve seen more from Wyoming after the opening week. I’ll lay the touchdown with the Cowboys here.
