The Line: Toledo Rockets -10 -- Over/Under:
The Glass Bowl and the Toledo Rockets welcome the Central Michigan Chippewas in college football action Saturday.
The Central Michigan Chippewas are looking to keep the momentum going after knocking off the Northern Illinois Huskies 34-28 in overtime as a 1.5 point home favorite. The Huskies were held to 341 yards and threw a pair of picks while the Chippewas piled up 484 yards with 41 minutes of possession but gave the ball away three times. Chips quarterback wasn’t at his best, completing 19-35 for 254 yards and three touchdowns and a pair of interceptions with Corey Willis catching six passes for 66 yards with a 25 yard TD. CMU was toughest on the ground with the twosome od Drew Spalding and Jahray Hayes combining for 229 yards and a score each on 44 carries.
The Toledo Rockets might be championship material on paper in the MAC and their 5-1 record is certainly impressive but their 42-35 victory versus visiting Bowling Green as a 31.5 point favorite did not look good. The offense looked fine with 541 yards but the Falcons offense moved the chains as well with 502 yards. Rockets quarterback Logan Woodside was the offensive star as he connected on 23-30 for 322 yards and four touchdowns and an interception with Michael Roberts totaling 94 yards and three TD’s on six receptions while Corey Jones snagged five passes for yards and another TD. Toledo also had an efficient rushing attack going behind Terry Swanson and Kareem Hunt who ran for a combined 111 yards on 37 totes with a touchdown each.
Central Michigan are 7-0 ATS in their last 7 road games vs. a team with a winning home record and the under is 5-0 in Central Michigan last 5 vs. a team with a winning record while the over is 5-1 in Central Michigan last 6 games after accumulating more than 450 total yards in their previous game. Under is 4-0 in Toledo last 4 games after allowing more than 280 yards passing in their previous game and the over is 5-0 in Toledo last 5 games following a straight up win while the over is 4-0 in Toledo last 4 games after allowing more than 450 total yards in their previous game. Central Michigan are 0-6 ATS in their last 6 meetings and the favorite is 7-0 ATS in their last 7 meetings while Central Michigan are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 meetings in Toledo.
The Rockets have looked like horse manure at times with their supposedly big time offense looking ordinary until late and I won’t touch them…
