The Line: UAB Blazers +3 -- Over/Under:
The Alabama-Birmingham Blazers tangle with the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs at Legion Field Saturday.
The red hot Louisiana Tech Bulldogs look to stay hot when they visit Alabama-Birmingham in week eleven action. The Bulldogs have won four in a row as they dominated the high powered Western Kentucky offense 59-10 in a week ten bout. The Bulldogs led 31-10 at the break and that was as close as the Hilltoppers got with La Tech leading 507-297 in total yards. Brandon Doughty and the WKY air assault was held to 134 yards and four interceptions while the Bulldogs racked up 378 yards through the air with Cody Sokol connecting on 30-42 for 335 yards for five touchdowns and an interception. Kenneth Dixon gave the rushing attack 77 yards and a score with Trent Taylor catching nine balls for 113 yards and three touchdowns.
The Alabama-Birmingham Blazers are in need of a strong finish to the season to reach the postseason and it begins with Louisiana Tech. The Blazers took a step in the right direction with a 31-28 victory over a tough Florida Atlantic on the road. UAB blew a 28-7 lead in the 4th and needed Ty Long's 24 yards field goal with two seconds left to secure the win. The Blazers owned the boxscore with a 423-322 edge in yards and a 2-0 advantage in turnovers with 35+ minutes in possession. Cody Clements ran an eficient passing game with 184 yards with a 78 yard touchdown strike to Jamarcus Nelson. Jordan Howard led a solid Blazers rushing game with 167 yards on 33 carries with a pair of trips to the endzone while DJ Vinson contributed another 74 yards and a 32 yard scoring jaunt.
Bulldogs are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games after accumulating more than 280 yards passing in their previous game and are 1-7 ATS in their last 8 games after scoring more than 40 points in their previous game while the Bulldogs are 15-3 ATS in their last 18 road games vs. a team with a winning home record. For Alabama-Birmingham the over is 5-0 in Blazers last 5 games in November and is 7-0 in Blazers last 7 games after accumulating more than 200 yards rushing in their previous game while going 4-0 in Blazers last 4 games on fieldturf. I think Alabama-Birmingham is improved and dangerous but I think Louisiana Tech is the better team right now...
