The Line: UAB Blazers +20 -- Over/Under:
The Marshall Thundering Herd put their perfect record on the line at Alabama-Birmingham Blazers.
The Marshall Thundering Herd have a bullseye on their back everytime they take the field and have survived thus far. Rice was supposed to be a big challenge but at the end of 60 minutes the Owls found themselves on the wrong end of 41-14 rout. The balanced Thundering Herd dominated both sides of the ball with a 581-180 advantage in total yards. Devon Johnson led a productive rushing attack with 199 yards on 27 carries with a two yard scoring run while Steward Butler added anpther 60 yards on nine touches. Rakeem Cato was at his best in the air as he completed 23-37 for 297 yards and four touchdowns and an interception. Eric Frohnapfel was the receiving star with six catches for 107 yards and a 30 yard TD.
The Alabama-Birmingham Blazers are fighting for for their postseason lives but they have been struggling. The Blazers fell to 5-5 following a 40-24 defeat to visiting Louisiana Tech for their thid loss in four contests. The problem versus the Bulldogs is they fell behind early and never got their feet under them. LT was able to do a little of everything with 428 yards while UAB was much the same but not as effective with 326 yards. The Blazers rushing attack was in good hands behind 148 yards and a touchdown from Jordan Howard. Cody Clements completed 22-36 for 186 yards with a pick but the offense had issues finding the endzone with a kick return and fumble return accounting for 14 points.
The Thundering Herd are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 road games and are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games in November while the over is 8-0 in Thundering Herd last 8 games after accumulating more than 280 yards passing in their previous game. For Alabama-Birmingham the over is 6-0 in Blazers last 6 games following a ATS loss and is 5-0 in Blazers last 5 games on fieldturf while the over is 6-0 in Blazers last 6 games in November. Head to head the home team is 5-1 ATS in their last 6 meetings while the Thundering Herd are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 meetings. Another big spread and instead of trying to overthink this I'll lay the chalk with the better squad...
