The Alabama-Birmingham Blazers battle the Southern Miss Golden Eagles in CUSA college football on Saturday.

The Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles stayed in the Bowl hunt with a 26-24 win against visiting Marshall as a three point dog. Marshall owned a slight 249-222 yardage edge but Southern Miss won the turnover battle 4-2 and returned a fumble for a score.

Golden Eagles quarterback Tate Whatley connected on 16-25 for 134 yards and a touchdown while running for another 40 yards and a score on 25 carries.

De’Michael Harris ran once for 29 yards and Steven Anderson totaled 22 rushing yards on nine carries as the Southern Miss ground game was ineffective overall. Quez Watkins was the Golden Eagles top offensive player with five receptions for 79 yards including a 57 yard scoring catch.

The Alabama-Birmingham Birmingham Blazers stayed unbeaten in the CUSA with a one sided 52-3 victory against UTSA in week ten. UAB racked up a 688-220 yardage edge with 449 yards coming on the ground.

Blazers quarterback Tyler Johnston III completed 10-17 for 249 yards and three touchdowns along with an interception while running nine times for 62 yards and a score.

Spencer Brown rumbled for a game high 147 yards and two TD’s on 20 carries while James Noble III gave UAB another 92 yards on the ground on eleven totes. Xavier Ubose topped the Blazers receivers with a pair of touchdown receptions with Kailon Carter hauling in a 50 yard TD strike.

Both starting quarterbacks are questionable so no line is out as of yet.

Pick:
UAB -11.5

I have been a sports fan since I was old enough to pick up a ball and have always been drawn to competition. I don't participate in sporting events any longer but I do like to provide my opinion on games and writing gives me that outlet. I won't always be right but I always put 100% in to every article I do whether it's the World Series or an 0-10 college football team. Mitch shares that same passion and allows me to express myself in my own way.
