The Tulane Green Wave visit the UAB Blazers in college football action from Legion Field in Birmingham, AL on Saturday afternoon.
The Tulane Green Wave will be looking to build on their first win of the year, a 42-17 triumph over Nicholls in their last outing. Jonathan Banks threw for 190 yards on 12 of 16 passing with a touchdown while Corey Dauphine took his 6 carries and spun them into 152 rushing yards and 3 touchdowns. Darius Bradwell logged 93 rushing yards while Amare Jones and the aforementioned Banks each had a rushing touchdown. Darnell Mooney far and away led Tulane’s receiving corps with 6 catches for 111 yards and a touchdown. Defensively, Tulane matched their 2 sacks with 2 interceptions while Will Harper led the Tulane D with 6 tackles in the winning effort.
The UAB Blazers will be out to bounce back after dropping their last outing by a final score of 47-24 to Coastal Carolina for their first loss of the year. A.J. Erdely threw for 149 yards and an interception on 12 of 26 passing, while Spencer Brown led UAB in rushing with 94 yards on 20 carries and Erdely, along with Kendall Parham and Kingston Davis each had a rushing TD in the losing effort. Parham also led the Blazers in receiving with 3 catches for 65 yards in the loss. Defensively, Garrett Marino and Guindarius Thagard each had a sack while 7 different Blazers shared the team lead with 3 tackles in the defeat.
Tulane is 9-3 ATS in their last 12 non-conference games and 4-0-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall while the under is 3-0-1 in their last 4 games against C-USA. UAB is 7-0-1 ATS in their last 8 home games and 1-3-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall while the over is 19-7 in their last 26 games in the month of September. The underdog is 5-1 ATS in the last 6 meetings between these two teams.
UAB is coming off of a bad loss and the Green Wave have had the bulk of the success ATS when these two have met in the past. However, UAB’s loss came on the road, and the Blazers are a far different team at home. Getting points with a team that’s been pretty much money at home dating back to last season sounds good to me, so I’ll take the points with UAB in this one.
