The UTSA Roadrunners and the UAB Blazers meet in week 10 C-USA college football action from Legion Field on Saturday night.
The UTSA Roadrunners will look to rebound from back-to-back losses, including a 27-17 defeat at the hands of Southern Miss in their last outing. Cordale Grundy has thrown for 990 yards, 5 touchdowns and 3 interceptions on 50.9% passing while B.J. Daniels leads the Roadrunners in rushing with 294 yards and 3 touchdowns this season. Greg Campbell Jr. leads UTSA in receiving with 31 catches for 313 yards and a pair of touchdowns this season. As a team, UTSA is averaging 245.5 yards of total offense and 17.4 points per game this season.
The UAB Blazers will look for another win to stay in the driver’s seat in the C-USA West division after their 6th straight win following a 19-0 shutout victory over UTEP last time out. A.J. Erdely has thrown for 1,449 yards, 7 touchdowns and 6 interceptions on 57.3% passing while rushing for 305 yards and 5 scores on the ground. Spencer Brown leads UAB in rushing with 694 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns while Xavier Ubosi leads the Blazers with 378 receiving yards and 3 touchdowns and Collin Lisa has a team-high 22 receptions for 295 yards this season. As a team, UAB is averaging 420 yards of total offense and 31.6 points per game this season. The Blazers are also one of the nation’s best defensive units, sitting top-5 in total yardage against (277.9 YPG/5th in FBS), passing yardage against (155.5 YPG/5th) and scoring defense (13.2 PPG/3rd) this season.
UTSA is 3-12-1 ATS in their last 16 games overall and 0-5-1 ATS in their last 6 games against a team with a winning record while the under is 10-1 in their last 11 conference games. UAB is 18-7-1 ATS in their last 26 home games and 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games following a win while the under is 11-1 in their last 12 conference games.
The issue with the Roadrunners is they beat the teams that they should (ie. Rice & UTEP), but when having to step up to there competition, UTEP has the tendency to fall flat. UAB can ill afford a misstep if they’re going to play in the conference championship game, and the Blazers have pulled off covers in each of their last six games and I think the Blazers make it 7 with a huge statement win here.
