The Arizona Wildcats will travel to the Rose Bowl to take on the UCLA Bruins this Saturday night in College Football action.

The Arizona Wildcats dropped to 3-4 (2-2 Pac-12) on the season after being defeated the Utah Utes, 42-10, this past Friday night. Arizona had no answers on the road on either end of the ball against Utah and couldn’t fight back after Utah took a 35-0 lead early in the third quarter. Arizona was outgained by Utah by a 495-318 margin and allowed Utah to rush for 230 yards and 3 TD’s in the loss. Leading the way for the Wildcats was QB Rhett Rodriguez who completed 20 of 38 passes for 226 yards and a TD while filling in for Khalil Tate who was injured early in the game. On the season, Arizona is averaging 27.4 ppg on 427.1 total yards per game (243.9 passing yds/g; 183.3 rushing yds/g). Offensively, Arizona has been led by QB Khalil Tate who has completed 53.4% of his passes for 11 TD & 4 INT while averaging 202.1 passing yds/g. Tate came in with a banged up ankle which got rolled on early in the game against Utah and currently is questionable for the UCLA game. He top receivers for the Wildcats have been Shawn Poindexter (3.4 rec/g; 63.7 yds/g; 2 TD), Shun Brown (5.0 rec/g; 55.0 yds/g; 3 TD), and Tony Ellison (2.4 rec/g; 44.4 yds/g; 3 TD). Leading the way for the Wildcats backfield has been J.J. Taylor (16.9 att/g; 94.7 yds/g; 3 TD) and Gary Brightwell (8.9 att/g; 46.0 yds/g; 2 TD). Defensively, Arizona is allowing their opponents to average 28.7 ppg on 437.9 total yards per game (235.9 passing yds/g; 202.0 rushing yds/g).

The UCLA Bruins picked up their first victory in the Chip Kelly era and improved to 1-5 (1-2 Pac-12) on the season after defeating the California Golden Bears, 37-7, this past Saturday. UCLA was outstanding on the defensive side of things and had no trouble securing the victory after taking a 27-7 lead early in the 4th quarter. UCLA outgained California by a 348-310 margin and won the turnover battle by a 5-0 margin. Leading the way for the Bruins was RB Joshua Kelley who had 157 rushing yards & 3 TD’s on 30 carries. On the season, UCLA is averaging 21.5 ppg on 336.3 total yards per game (186.3 passing yds/g; 150.0 rushing yds/g). Offensively, UCLA has been led by QB Dorian Thompson-Robinson who has completed 60.1% of his passes for 5 TD & 3 INT while averaging 178.8 passing yds/g. The top receivers for the Thompson-Robinson and the Bruins  has been TE Caleb Wilson (3.8 rec/g; 55.8 yds/g; TD), WR Theo Howard (4.2 rec/g; 47.8 yds/g; 2 TD), and WR Demetric Felton (1.2 rec/g; 17.2 yds/g). Leading the way for the Bruins backfield has been Joshua Kelley (14.6 att/g; 86.6 yds/g; 4 TD), Kazmeir Allen (4.7 att/g; 30.5 yds/g), and Bolu Olorunfunmi (5.2 att/g; 14.2 yds/g; 4 TD). Defensively, UCLA is allowing their opponents to average 409.7 total yards per game (233.0 passing yds/g; 176.7 rushing yds/g).

The Wildcats are 5-11 ATS in their last 16 games after allowing more than 200 yards rushing in their previous games and just 5-16 ATS in their last 21 road games. The Bruins are 20-41-1 ATS vs. a team with a losing record and just 3-13 ATS in their last 16 games following an ATS win.

The spread has yet to be released as we wait on the status of Khalil Tate, however, I’m hoping he does play as they should get us some more points for the Bruins who I’m probably going to take either way. UCLA’s is improving on both sides of the ball as they finally look like their settling into Chip Kelly’s system and as I think that Joshua Kelley and the Bruins rushing attack will have success for the 2nd straight week agianst the Wildcats defense, I think UCLA will get the win outright as long as they limit their turnovers. Please check back later for an update!

Update (10/17/18) - Khalil Tate has been confirmed out for the Wildcats. This is a bigger number I expected for UCLA however, I'm still rolling with the Bruins as the Wildcats offense this season has been pretty much non-existant even with Tate. As long as UCLA limits there turnovers, I expect them to win this one by double-digits. Good luck.
