Fresno State jumped out to an early 31-0 lead in this one, however, allowed Tulsa to come all the way back to win in OT. Fresno State was outgained by Tulsa by a 607-453 margin and really struggled against the Golden Hurricane rushing attack as the allowed Tulsa to gain 334 rushing yards. The UNLV Rebels fell to 1-3 on the season after being defeated by the Idaho Vandals, 33-30 in OT, this past Saturday. UNLV and Idaho played a tight game throughout however, after UNLV was only able to get a FG to open up OT and their defense couldn’t stop the Vandals from getting into the end zone. UNLV outgained Idaho by a 539-378 margin and lost the turnover battle by a 2-1 margin. Leading the way for UNLV was RB Lexington Thomas who had 2 TD’s and 160 rushing yards. The Bulldogs are 4-10 ATS in their last 9 road games and 0-5 ATS in their last 5 games following a ATS win. The Rebels are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games following a ATS loss and 1-6 ATS in their last 7 conference games.
Both Fresno State and UNLV are in rebuilding mode and although each team have been able to put up points, both of their defenses continue to struggle. Fresno State will have to have a short memory after blowing a 31-0 2nd quarter lead in their recent game however, have to be encouraged with the play they’ve gotten from freshman QB Chason Virgil. UNLV let one slip away against Idaho but this is clearly a team that is playing with great energy and confidence under head coach Tony Sanchez and have some great playmakers in Lexington Thomas and Devonte Boyd. This is a large spread for UNLV to cover however, as I think their offensive will be able to put up plenty of points on the Bulldogs defense, I’m taking UNLV to cover in this one.
