The Wyoming Cowboys will travel to Sam Boyd Stadium to take on the UNLV Rebels this Saturday afternoon in College Football action.

They Wyoming Cowboys won their 5th straight game and improved to 7-2 (5-0 MW) on the season after defeating the Utah State Aggies, 52-28, this past Saturday. Wyoming jumped all over Utah State and had little trouble staying perfect in the Mountain West after taking a 35-7 halftime lead. Wyoming outgained Utah State by a 528-414 margin and won the turnover battle by a 2-1 margin. Leading the way for Wyoming was QB Josh Allen who completed 16 of 26 passes for 261 yards, 4 TD, and an INT while also added a TD and 66 yards on the ground. On the season, Wyoming is averaging 35.9 ppg on 438.4 total yards per game (209.8 passing, 228.7 rushing). Offensively, leading the way for the Cowboys has been RB Brain Hill who has 13 TD’s on the season and is averaging 144.2 yds/game. QB Josh Allen has completed 59.1% of his passes for 17 TD and 8 INT while averaging 209.3 passing yds/game. Tanner Gentry (5.3 rec/g, 86.4 yds/g, 8 TD), Jake Maulhardt (2.6 rec/g, 38.3 yds/g, 3 TD), and Jacob Hollister (2.2 rec/g, 36.1 yds/g, 5 TD) are the leading receivers for the Cowboys. Defensively, Wyoming is allowing their opponents to average 29.8 ppg on 441.4 total yards per game (303.0 passing, 138.4 rushing). Wyoming has forced their opponents into committing 19 turnovers and has an overall turnover margin of +6.

The UNLV Rebels lost their 2nd straight game and dropped to 3-6 (2-3 MW) on the season after being defeated by the San Jose State Spartans, 30-24, on October 29th. UNLV had no answers on the defensive end in the 1st half against the Spartans and couldn’t fight back from a 27-10 halftime deficit. UNLV outgained San Jose State by a 424-402 margin and lost the turnover battle by a 1-0 margin. Leading the way for UNLV was RB Charles Williams who had TD and 141 yards on 22 carries. On the season, UNLV is averaging 30.6 ppg on 399.4 total yards per game (163.2 passing, 236.2 rushing). Offensively, the Rebels have been led by the rushing duo of Lexington Thomas (13.3 att/g, 70.2 yds/g, 8 TD) and Charles Williams (11.3 att/g, 66.8 yds/g, 3 TD). QB Kurt Palandech completed 10 of 21 passes for 161 yards, TD, and an INT in his first significant action of the season against San Jose State after replacing Dalton Sneed (44.3 Comp %, 5 TD, 2 INT, 90.3 yds/game). Devonte Boyd (3.9 rec/g, 68.8 yds/g, 4 TD), Darren Woods Jr. (2.2 rec/g, 31.5 yds/g, TD), and Mekhi Stevenson (1.3 rec/g, 17.2 yds/g, 2 TD) have been the leading receivers for the Rebels. Defensively, UNLV is allowing their opponents to average 32.0 ppg on 420.6 total yards per game (303.0 passing, 138.4 rushing). UNLV has forced their opponents into committing 11 turnovers on the season and has an overall turnover margin of -1.

The Cowboys are 6-0 ATS in their last 6 conference games and 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games overall. The Rebels are 4-9 ATS in their last 13 home games and 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games overall.

Wyoming continues to roll through the Mountain West conference behind the outstanding play of Brain Hill who comes into this matchup as one of the top RB’s in all of College Football. UNLV has had a up and down season and although the Rebels have the 19th ranked rushing offense in College Football, UNLV continues to struggle on the defensive end as they currently rank 96th in scoring offense and 76th in total defense. Wyoming must be careful that they don’t overlook UNLV before their big matchup against San Diego State, however, as the Cowboys biggest weakness on defense is against the passing game which shouldn’t be big concern against the Rebels, I think Wyoming will be able to do enough on the road to cover this spread. Take Wyoming to cover.

Pick:
Wyoming Cowboys -8
