The Line: Utah State Aggies -16.5 -- Over/Under:
The Utah State Aggies welcome the New Mexico Lobos to Romney Stadium in week 12 action.
The New Mexico Lobos have struggled to score and defend at various times this season and it was obviously the defense that had the most issues in a 60-49 loss to visiting Boise State in week eleven. The Lobos led 42-35 after 30 minutes before the Broncos took over in the second half behind a 25-7 run. Boise State racked up 674 yards behind an equal ability to run and throw while the Lobos 624 yards was paced by a dominating rushing attack that piled up over 500 yards. Teriyon Gipson paced UNM on the ground with 205 yards on 24 totes with three scores with Jhurrell Pressley adding 154 yards on seven touches with two more TD's while Ridge ones ripped off a 75 yard scoring gallop. Lamar Jordan threw for 122 yards which was a bonus because the Lobos never throw.
The Utah State Aggies look to continue their winning ways when New Mexico visits Romney Stadium. The Aggies won number three in a row in week eleven with a tremendous defensive performance in a 20-3 at Wyoming. USU opened the game with a 17-0 first quarter burst before the scoring stalled and the defense took control. Neither team were strong offensively with around 360 yards apiece but the Aggies picked off a pair of Cowboys passes when they were threatening and received an 80 punt return from Jojo Natson who also ripped off a 66 yard touchdown run. Lajuan Hunt added another 65 rushing yards while Kent Myers threw for 150 yards as a few big plays on both sides of the ball saved the Aggies who looked very ordinary otherwise.
The Lobos are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games after allowing more than 200 yards rushing in their previous game and the over is 4-0 in Lobos last 4 vs. a team with a winning record while the under is 10-2 in Lobos last 12 games after allowing more than 280 yards passing in their previous game. For Utah State the Aggies are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games in November and are 0-5 ATS in their last 5 games after accumulating less than 170 yards passing in their previous game while the under is 6-1 in Aggies last 7 games following a ATS win. Utah State did virtually nothing well offensively versus Wyoming and need to give their defense some help against a dangerous New Mexico attack. I'm going with potential here...
