|Date & Time||Friday September 11, 2015, 9:00 PM (EDT)|
The Line: Utah Utes -12.5 -- Over/Under: 47
The Utah State Aggies head to Rice-Eccles Stadium to take the field with rival the Utah Utes.
The Utah State Aggies are probably breathing a sigh of relief as they survived their opener with Southern Utah 12-9 as a 31 point home favorite. The Aggies erased a 9-5 deficit on an 88 yard punt return by Andrew Rodriguez with just under five minutes to play. Two of their points came on a failed PAT conversion by the Thunderbirds that was brought all the way back. The USU defense kept the game winnable by allowing only 163 yards and nine first downs but the offense was only able to generate 250 yards. Chuckie Keeton struggled to give the Aggies a solid passing attack with a 16-33 effort producing 110 yards and an interception while Lujan Hunt needed 23 carries to reach 83 yards.
The Utah Utes turned back Jim Harbaugh and his Michigan Wolverines 24-17 on opening day behind a great performance on the defensive side of the football. The Wolverines held a slight 355-337 yardage edge but three costly interceptions did them in. Utah quarterback Travis Wilson was effective in a short passing game where with 208 yards on 24-33 with a pick which obviously didn’t stretch the field. Devontae Booker paced the Utes on the ground with 69 yards on 23 totes and a touchdown with Wilson adding 53 yards and a score. Booker also caught seven passes for 55 yards while Britain Covey snagged five balls for 58 yard as seven Utes recorded receptions.
The Aggies are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games following a ATS loss and are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games in September while going 8-1 ATS in their last 9 Friday games. The under is 6-0-1 in Utes last 7 games following a S.U. win and the Utes are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games after allowing less than 100 yards rushing in their previous game with the under going 6-1-1 in Utes last 8 games on fieldturf. The over is 4-1-1 in the last 6 meetings and the road team is 8-3-1 ATS in their last 12 meetings. I don’t think either offense looked good in week one but I’m surprised by Utah State who just didn’t look right…
