The Line: Utah Utes +2 -- Over/Under:
The UCLA Bruins will travel to play the Utah Utes in a Pac-12 conference showdown on Saturday.
The Utah Utes are coming off of a disappoint loss to Arizona by a score of 37-30 in overtime last weekend. This was a close game throughout, but Utah could never pull away and ultimately failed to answer an Arizona touchdown in the second overtime. Utah’s offense is averaging 33 points per game with 389.1 yards per game. Quarterback Travis Wilson leads the Utah offense with 1806 yards, 12 touchdowns, and 9 interceptions. Devontae Booker is the leading rusher for Utah with 1261 yards and 11 touchdowns. Britain Covey leads the Utah receivers with 518 yards and 4 touchdowns. The Utah defense is giving up 23 points per game with 375 yards per game. Utah’s defense has 26 sacks, 9 fumble recoveries, and 16 interceptions. Utah is fighting to make it to the Pac-12 championship game and will have to avoid any more losses to accomplish that.
The UCLA Bruins are coming off of a loss against Washington State by a score of 31-27 last weekend. UCLA was leading in the game until Washington State scored with 4 seconds left in the game. This was a heartbreaking loss for UCLA, so it will be interesting to see how they respond. UCLA’s offense is averaging 35 points per game with 497.9 yards per game. Quarterback Josh Rosen leads the UCLA offense with 2904 yards, 18 touchdowns, and 7 interceptions. Paul Perkins is the leading rusher for UCLA with 1082 yards and 10 touchdowns. Jordan Payton is the big play receiver for UCLA with 904 yards and 4 touchdowns. The UCLA defense is giving up 25.2 points per game with 400.5 yards per game. UCLA’s defense has 24 sacks, 4 fumble recoveries, and 12 interceptions. UCLA will need to bounce back after their loss because this is a huge game to determine who will represent the Pac-12 South in the conference championship game.
UCLA is 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games following an ATS loss. UCLA is 4-1 ATS in their last 5 road games. The under is 7-1 in UCLA’s last 8 games on field turf. Utah is 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games following an ATS loss. Utah is 11-4 ATS in their last 15 games against a team with a winning record. The under is 5-1 in Utah’s last 6 home games. The under is 4-0 in these two teams last 4 matchups. UCLA is 1-4 ATS in their last 5 meetings with Utah.
Both teams come into this one after looking pretty bad last weekend. UCLA showed some fight at the end of their game, but it wasn’t enough. Utah really disappointed me as they looked like a completely different team than the rest of the season. I think UCLA will be able to move the ball on Utah’s defense and will have a chance to win this game outright. Even though Utah is at home, I am taking the free 3 points in a game that UCLA could easily win.
