The Oregon Ducks will travel to Rice-Eccles Stadium to take on the 15th ranked Utah Utes this Saturday night in College Football action.

The Oregon Ducks snapped their 2-game losing steak and improved to 6-3 (3-3 Pac-12) on the season after defeating the UCLA Bruins, 42-21, this past Saturday. Oregon was strong from the beginning in this one as they held a 21-0 lead early in the 2nd quarter and put the game away after taking a 35-14 lead with 10:20 left in regulation. Oregon was outgained by UCLA by a 496-492 margin however, won the turnover battle by a 3-0 margin in the victory. Leading the way for the Ducks was WR Dillon Mitchell who had 156 receiving yards & 2 TD’s on 8 receptions. On the season, Oregon is averaging 37.2 ppg on 443.0 total yards per game (265.3 passing yds/g; 177.7 rushing yds/g). Offensively, Oregon has been led by QB Justin Herbert who has completed 59.2% of his passes for 22 TD’s & 6 INT while averaging 259.2 passing yds/g. The top receiving targets for Herbert and the Ducks have been Dillon Mitchell (6.2 rec/g; 92.6 yds/g; 6 TD), Jacob Breeland (2.4 rec/g; 37.6 yds/g; 2 TD), Jaylon Reed (2.6 rec/g; 30.6 yds/g; 5 TD), and Johnny Johnson III (1.2 rec/g; 20.6 yds/g; 4 TD). Leading the way for the Oregon backfield has been the trio of CJ Verdell (15.6 att/g; 76.7 yds/g; 5 TD), Travis Dye (8.2 att/g; 39.0 yds/g; 2 TD), and Tony Brooks-James (5.8 att/g; 32.6 yds/g; 4 TD). Defensively, Oregon is allowing their opponents to average 27.6 ppg on 392.4 total yards per game (249.2 passing yds/g; 143.2 rushing yds/g).

The 15th ranked Utah Utes has their 4-game winning streak snapped and dropped to 6-3 (4-3 Pac-12) on the season after being defeated by the Arizona State Sun Devils, 38-20, this past Saturday. Utah fought back from a 14-0 deficit to trail by just 21-20 margin entering the 4th quarter, however, Utah couldn’t generate much offense the rest of the way after losing starting QB Tyler Huntley due to a broken collarbone. Utah was outgained by Arizona State by a 536-325 margin and lost the turnover battle by a 3-1 margin. Leading the way for the Utes was RB Zack Moss who had 128 rushing yards and a TD on 18 carries. On the season, Utah is averaging 30.3 ppg on 419.6 passing yds/g (217.6 passing yds/g; 202.0 rushing yds/g). Offensively, Utah has been led by RB Zack Moss who has 11 rushing TD’s on the season while averaging 121.3 rushing yds/g on 19.9 att/g. QB Tyler Huntley (64.1 Comp %; 12 TD; 6 INT; 198.7 passing yds/g) was loss for the season with a broken collarbone and will be replaced by Jason Shelley is just 6 for 14 for 99 yards and an INT on the season. The top receivers for the Utes have been Britain Covey (5.6 rec/g; 61.7 yds/g; TD), Samson Nacua (2.8 rec/g; 34.0 yds/g; 3 TD), and Demari Simpkins (1.8 rec/g; 24.6 yds/g; 2 TD). Defensively, Utah is holding their opponents to an average of 19.1 ppg on 314.7 total yards per game (214.7 passing yds/g; 100.0 rushing yds/g).

The Ducks are 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games overall and just 1-6 ATS in their last 7 road games. The Utes are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 home games and 21-8-1 ATS vs. a team with a winning record.

Oregon was able to bounce back after a couple of tough losses to Washington State and Arizona however, this is a team that has really struggled on the road this season. Losing Tyler Huntley is a huge blow for Utah, however, the Utes still have an outstanding RB in Zack Moss and a defense that ranks 17th in scoring defense. Justin Herbert is a great QB for Oregon however, I think he is going to struggle agianst the Utah defense and as long as Jason Shelley can limit turnovers, I think Utah does enough at home to cover this small spread. Take Utah to cover.

Pick:
Utah Utes -3.5
