The UTEP Miners welcome the New Mexico State Aggies to town in a week four college football tilt.
The New Mexico State Aggies couldn’t maintain an early lead in a 42-25 loss to rival New Mexico as a field goal home dog to drop to 0-4. New Mexico State won the battle for real estate 368-325 but five turnovers and 15 penalties were decisive.
Aggies quarterback Josh Adkins hit 12-21 for 168 yards and a TD with a pair of picks while Matt Romero completed 9-13 for 75 yards and two interceptions.
Jason Huntley was the offensive MVP for New Mexico State as he ran for a team high 67 yards on 15 touches while also leading all receivers with four receptions for 87 yards including a 58 yard scoring strike.
The Texas El Paso Miners remained winless remained winless on the season following a 24-0 defeat at Tennessee as a 34 point underdog. The bad news for UTEP was getting outgained 512-134 but the good news was a pair of fumble recoveries and the Volunteers not wanting to run up the score.
Miners quarterback Kai Locksley struggled to hook up with his receivers as he only completed 9-22 for just 39 yards. Keynan Foster caught a pair of passes for 21 yards while Treyvon Hughes and Quadriz Wadley combined for 66 rushing yards on 13 carries.
