UTEP vs. Texas-San Antonio Roadrunners
Saturday, October 5, 2019 at 7:01 PM (Sun Bowl)
UTEP -1.5 O/U 45.5
When two evenly matched bad teams get together it could result in an entertaining and competitive game. That will be the case this week when UTSA plays at UTEP in El Paso. Both teams beat a lower division school in their opener and lost three lopsided games to good teams after that win. The UTSA Roadrunners are averaging 16.3 per game and giving up 36.5. The Miners of UTEP are averaging 18.3 points and giving up 35. The road team won the five in a row before UTSA won one at home last year.
UTEP is third from the bottom nationally in converting third downs, and last in the nation in stopping them. UTEP is still trying to find some offense Brandon Jones and Kai Locksley are battling for the starting quarterback spot. Jones has passed for 454 yards and Locksley for 152. Both have thrown two interceptions, and Jones has the only TD pass the Miners have this year. Treyvon Hughes has 252 yards rushing and four touchdowns. Locksley has 150 yards rushing and two scores. The Miners have seven rushing touchdowns.
UTSA has had its struggles, and it got worse this week when it was announced starting quarterback Frank Harris is out. That leaves Lowell Narcisse. He has completed 41 percent of his passes, throwing for 133 yards and has two interceptions. The team has three touchdown passes and five interceptions. The Roadrunners have seven rushing touchdowns. Sincere McCormick leads the team with 250 yards and two touchdowns.
Frank Harris the starter for UTSA is out and that leaves his backup who is not that great to guide the team. Even with UTEP being horrible on third downs in this game UTSA is unable to do much with the ball as McCormick gets stuffed without a passing attack to balance out the game. Final Score Prediction, UTEP Miners win and cover 17-14.
