The Vanderbilt Commodores are 3-5 this season and are coming off of a two-point loss at SEC East Champion Florida. The Vanderbilt offense is averaging 14.8 points and 339.8 yards per game and they have turned the ball over 21 times. Zach Cunningham leads Vandy with 69 tackles, Darreon Herring has 47 tackles, and Torren McGaster has 41 tackles. Vanderbilt has struggled to score points and it has been their defense that has kept them competitive.

The Kentucky Wildcats are 4-5 this season as they have watched their season of high hopes get away from them. The Kentucky offense is averaging 22.6 points and 364.4 yards per game and they have turned the ball over 16 times. UK QB Patrick Towles has completed 57.4 percent of his passes with 10 touchdowns and 12 interceptions and he has rushed for five touchdowns. Stanley Williams is the Wildcats top rusher with 563 yards and three touchdowns and Dorian Baker is the top receiver with 45 catches and three touchdowns. The Kentucky defense is allowing 28.9 points and 411.9 yards with six interceptions, six fumble recoveries, and 13 sacks. Josh Forrest leads the UK defense with 76 tackles, Marcus McWilson has 63 tackles, and Cory Johnson has 51 tackles. Kentucky’s defense hasn’t gotten much pressure on the passer.

Vanderbilt is 4-1 against the spread in their last five home games, 5-1 against the spread following a loss, and 7-3 against the spread in their last 10 games. Kentucky is 7-20 against the spread in their last 27 road games, 8-23 against the spread in their last 31 SEC games, and 0-4 against the spread against a team with a losing record. The favorite has covered the point spread in five of the last six meetings of these two.

Vanderbilt has real issues at QB but their defense is outstanding and should shut down Kentucky and set up good enough field position to get the win and the cover.
