The Vanderbilt Commodores and the Missouri Tigers face off on Saturday in a week 8 SEC college football matchup.

The Vanderbilt Commodores are 2-4 this season and they are looking to make a second half run and land in a bowl game. The Vandy offense is averaging 19.3 points and 399 yards per game and they have turned the ball over 16 times. Commodores QB Johnny McCrary has completed 56.9 percent of his passes with six touchdowns and 10 interceptions and he has rushed for 166 yards and two touchdowns. Ralph Webb is Vanderbilt’s leading rusher with 495 yards and three touchdowns and Trent Sherfield has 36 catches and two touchdowns. The Vandy defense is allowing 18.5 points and 338 yards per game with three interceptions, four fumble recoveries, and 11 sacks. Zach Cunningham is Vanderbilt’s top tackler with 47, Oren Burks has 34, and Darreon Herring has 32. Vanderbilt has been solid on defense but it has been another season with subpar QB play that has hurt them.

The Missouri Tigers are 4-3 this season but they have lost their last two games and three of their last four. The Missouri offense is averaging 16.6 points and 290.4 yards per game and they have turned the ball over nine times. Mizzou QB Drew Lock has completed 53.4 percent of his passes with three touchdowns and three interceptions. Ish Witter leads the Tigers in rushing with 339 yards and Nate Brown is the top receiver with 20 catches. The Missouri defense is allowing 12.9 points and 279 yards with eight interceptions, two fumble recoveries, and 20 sacks. Kentrell Brothers leads Missouri with 66.5 tackles, Michael Scherer has 40.5 tackles, and Walter Brady has six sacks. Missouri’s defense kept them in the game last week at Georgia but the offense was only able to put up six points.

Vanderbilt is 4-1 against the spread following a game that they didn’t cover the spread, 5-2 against the spread in their last seven games, and 0-5 against the spread in their last five games against a team with a winning road record. Missouri is 12-3 against the spread in their last 15 road games, 18-8 against the spread in their last 26 SEC games, games, and 2-5 against the spread in their last seven games.

Vandy is getting three here and in a game where points are going to be tough to get it is nice to start with three.
