The Vanderbilt Commodores and the Ole Miss Rebels face off on Saturday in Week 12 SEC college football action.
The Vanderbilt Commodores are 4-6 this season and they need to win out if they want to make it to a bowl game. The Vandy offense is averaging 19.9 points and 322.1 yards per game and they have turned the ball over 10 times. Commodores QB Kyle Shurmer has completed 55.5 percent of his passes with 5 touchdowns and 6 interceptions. Ralph Webb leads the Vanderbilt rushing attack with 935 yards and 7 touchdowns and C.J. Duncan is the top receiver with 33 catches. The Vandy defense is allowing 22 points and 405.1 yards per game with 5 interceptions, 10 fumble recoveries, and 10 sacks. Zach Cunningham leads Vanderbilt with 104 tackles, LaDarius Wiley has 64 tackles, and Ryan White has 60 tackles. Vanderbilt let a golden opportunity get away last week losing at Missouri which looked to be a winnable spot.
The Ole Miss Rebels are 5-5 this season and with a win they will become blow eligible. The Ole Miss offense is averaging 35.4 points and 318.6 yards per game and they have turned the ball over 16 times. With QB Chad Kelly gone for the season the Rebels have turned to Shea Patterson who has completed 59.5 percent of his passes with 2 touchdowns and 1 interception and 64 rushing yards in one game. Akeem Judd leads Mississippi in rushing with 656 yards and 6 touchdowns and Evan Engram has 59 receptions and 7 touchdowns. The Ole Miss defense is allowing 31.5 points and 450.3 yards per game with 8 interceptions, 6 fumble recoveries, and 17 sacks. DeMarquis Gates leads the Rebels with 70 tackles, Zedrick Woods has 56 tackles, and Marquis Haynes has 41 tackles including 6 sacks. Ole Miss has had a very disappointing season but hey have momentum after beating Texas A&M last week.
Vanderbilt is 20-6 against the spread following a game that they didn’t cover the point spread and 7-3 against the spread following a loss. Ole Miss is 3-9 against the spread in their last 12 road games, 104 against the spread in their last 5 games, and 5-1 against the spread following a win. The road team has covered the point spread in the last 4 meetings of these 2 teams.
Vandy has a knack for keeping games low scoring and I can see them doing that here and while I am not sure they can snag the win I see the Commodores covering the spread.
