Georgia Tech will go on the road to take on the Virginia Cavaliers this weekend.
The Virginia Cavaliers are coming off of a 26-13 loss to North Carolina making their record fall to 2-5. Quarterback Matt Johns completed 17 out of his 30 passes for 148 yards and 1 touchdown but threw 4 interceptions. Running back Taquan Mizzell carried the ball 24 times for 117 yards and not touchdowns. Daniel Hamm also added 7 carries for 70 yards on the ground. Mizzell also led the team in receiving with 6 catches for 57 yards and no touchdowns. Receiver Charlie Hopkins caught 3 passes for 36 yards and 1 touchdown. Virginia has had a rough season so far and it doesn’t get any easier with Georgia Tech coming into town coming off of a big win last weekend against FSU.
Georgia Tech is coming off of a big upset win 22-16 over the Florida State Seminoles. The Yellow Jackets won on a blocked field goal return for a touchdown as time expired. Quarterback Justin Thomas completed 4 of his 10 passes for 67 yards with no touchdowns and 2 interceptions. Thomas also added 13 carries for 88 yards and 1 touchdown on the ground. Marcus Marshall recorded 16 carries for 69 rushing yards as well. Brad Stewart and Ricky Jeune led the Yellow Jackets in receiving with a combined 2 catches for 69 yards. Georgia Tech who was coming off of a 5 game losing streak seemed to have found some life and will try to carry their momentum into this weekend when they take on Virginia.
Georgia Tech is 7-1 against the spread in their last 8 games following an against the spread win. The Yellow Jackets are 6-1 against the spread in their last 7 games following a straight up win. Virginia is 3-8-2 against the spread in their last 13 games in October. Virginia is 0-5 against the spread in their last 5 games after accumulating less than 170 yards passing in their previous game.
Geogia Tech finally ended their losing streak and possibly turned their season around. Virginia on the other hand has not figured out how to win games lately. I think Georgia Tech will come into Virginia and win easily. Take Georgia Tech to cover on the road.
