Virginia Tech will host the hot North Carolina Tar Heels this weekend.
Virginia Tech is coming off of a 23-21 victory over Georgia Tech on the road getting their record back to .500 at 5-5. Virginia Tech only needs to win 1 out of their last 2 to become bowl eligible. Last game quarterback Michael Brewer completed 15 out of his 29 passes for 178 yards and 1 touchdown and 1 interception. Running back Travon McMillian carried the ball 24 times for 135 yards and 2 touchdowns. Wide Receiver Cam Phillips led the Hokies with 6 catches for 95 yards and no touchdowns. Receiver Isaiah Ford caught the only touchdown on 5 catches for 46 yards. Tech will need every thing they got in order to take down North Carolina who has been on fire lately.
The North Carolina Tar Heels extended their win streak to 9 games with a 59-21 home win over the University of Miami. Quarterback Marquise Williams once again was the star of the show. He completed 11 of his 16 passes for 105 yards and a touchdown and no interceptions. Williams also carried the ball 12 times for 101 yards and 3 touchdowns on the ground. Running back Elijah Hood carried the ball 17 times for 132 yards and 1 touchdown. Leading the Tar Heels in receiving was Jordan Fieulleteau who caught 4 passes for 74 yards. North Carolina will try to get their win streak to 10 games when they go on the road to take on Virginia Tech.
North Carolina is 5-1 against the spread in their last 6 conference games. The Tar Heels are 4-0 against the spread in their last 4 games after accumulating more than 450 total yards in their previous game. Virginia Tech is 3-7 against the spread vs. a team with a winning record. The Hokies are 6-15 against the spread in their last 21 games following an against the spread win.
Virginia Tech will try to stop North Carolina of their tenth win in a row. North Carolina has been clicking on offense and defense and look to be a team to take seriously. I dont think Virginia Tech stands much of a chance even at home. Tech wont be able to slow down this high powered offense. Take the Tar Heels to cover on the road.
