Purdue will host Virginia Tech in what should be a very interesting game.
Virginia Tech won a blowout game at home 42-3 against Furman. Junior Quarterback Brenden Motley went 16/24 for 233 yards and 2 touchdowns. Running back Travon McMillian led the Hokies with 6 carries for 98 yards. Dwyane Lawson also added 9 carries for 51 yards and a touchdown. Receivers Cam Phillips and Isaiah Ford both had 5 receptions for a combined 163 for 2 touchdowns. Andrew Motuapuaka and Adonis Alexander both recorded an interception. Virginia Tech will need to play like how they did against Furman if they want to win at Purdue this Saturday.
Purdue bounced back against a tough loss to Marshall by beating Indiana State 38-14. Quarterback Austin Appleby was 20/34 for 289 yards and 4 touchdowns. Running backs D.J. Knox and Markell Jones combined for 30 carries for 158 yards and 1 touchdown. DeAngelo Yancey and Cameron Posey were the leading receivers combining for 4 receptions 132 yards and 2 touchdowns. Robert Gregory and Anthony Brown each recorded an interception. Purdue has looked good so far this season even though they lost to Marshall they were competitive.
Virginia Tech is 5-13 against the spread in their last 18 road games. The Hokies are 1-4 against the spread in their last 5 games in September. Purdue is 1-4-1 against the spread in their last 6 games overall. Purdue is also 0-4 against the spread in their last 4 games after accumulating more than 450 yards in their previous game.
I can see this game going either way. I would proabably stay away from it but my gut is telling me to take Purdue and the points at home. Virginia Tech tends to struggle on the road. Take Purdue and the points.
