Wake Forest Demon Deacons -27
The Elon Phoenix and the Wake Forest Demon Deacons will match up in college football action on Saturday.
Elon enters this one with a 2-1 mark overall. The Phoenix fell to NC A&T 24-21 in their opener but then bagged wins over the Citadel 35-28 and Richmond 42-20 in the next pair.
In the win over the Spiders, Elon QB Davis Cheek posted 234 yards and five touchdowns. Kortez Weeks got most of the receiving work with eight grabs for 125 yards and a score.
Over on the Deacons’ side, they’re 3-0 this year following victories over Utah State 38-35, Rice 41-21 and North Carolina 24-18.
Wake Forest QB Jamie Newman put up 214 yards, one TD and one INT in the win over the Tar Heels. Sage Surratt grabbed the TD and had nine receptions with 169 yards while Kenneth Walker rushed for 94 yards.
The Phoenix are 4-0 ATS in their last four overall and 4-0 ATS in their last four non-conference games. Elon is 0-5-1 ATS in their last six versus the ACC as well.
Meanwhile, the over is 5-1 in the Deacons’ last six non-conference games and 8-1 in their last nine home games versus a team with a winning road record. The under is 5-1 in Wake’s last six versus a team with a winning record.
Elon stubbed out of the gate a bit but they’ve been able to right the ship and ride on the offense with 77 points in their two victories. The Deacons can hang points on the board quite well this year also, and I don’t think the Phoenix will be able to stick around for too long. I’m going Wake Forest here.
