The Line: Wake Forest Demon Deacons -3.5 -- Over/Under:
Over at BB&T Field in Winston-Salem on Saturday, the NC State Wolfpack and the Wake Forest Demon Deacons will be matching up in college basketball action.
NC State is sitting at 7-3 on the season so far. The Wolfpack had lost two straight to Notre Dame and Clemson, but beat Boston College in their last outing. In that game, NC State QB Ryan Finley put up 146 yards with one INT on 13-of-32 passing.
So far this year, Finley has 2665 yards with 15 TDs and four INTs, and Nyheim Hines is the top Wolfpack rusher with 798 yards and seven TDs from 145 carries. Kelvin Harmon is tops in receiving for NC State with 56 catches for 867 yards and four touchdowns.
Over on the Wake Forest side, they’re currently 6-4. The Demon Deacons are 2-1 in their last three games, losing to Notre dame and beating Louisville and Syracuse in that time. In that Orange game, Wake Forest QB John Wolford put up 363 yards with three touchdowns.
On the year, Wolford has 2354 yards with 20 TDs and three INTs, and Matt Colburn is tops in Wake Forest rushing with 674 yards and five touchdowns from 123 carries. Greg Dortch leads the Demon Deacons in receiving with 53 catches for 722 yards and nine TDs.
The Wolfpack are 3-0-1 ATS in their last four conference games and 5-1-1 ATS in their last seven road games. NC State is also 4-1-1 ATS in their last six games in November and 3-1-1 ATS in their last five games overall.
Meanwhile, Wake Forest is 4-0-1 ATS in their last five home games and 5-1-1 ATS in their last seven games following a straight-up win. The Demon Deacons are also 5-1 ATS in their last six games in November and 8-2-1 ATS in their last 12 conference games.
After putting up 31 (and allowing 38) in the loss to Clemson, NC State bounced back with a 17-14 win over Boston College in a tricky road game. The Wolfpack offense has been uneven to say the least over the last few games but the big defensive effort in their last outing is good to see. As for Wake Forest, they’ve put up at least 37 points in their last three outings, but have also given up at least 32 in each of those. All things considered, I like Wake Forest’s offense to help propel them to a cover in what should be a fun game.
