The Line: Washington Huskies -5.5 -- Over/Under:
The Washington Huskies and the Utah State Aggies face off on Saturday in college football action.
The Washington Huskies bounced back from their season opening loss at Boise by beating FCS Sacramento State. The Washington offense dressed up their season stats as they are averaging 31 points and 361.5 yards per game. UW QB Jake Browning has completed 63.8 percent of his passes for 476 yards with two touchdowns and an interception. Myles Gaskin is the Huskies leading rusher averaging 7.9 yards per carry with three touchdowns and Dwayne Washington is Washington’s leading receiver with nine catches and Joshua Perkins has seven. The Washington defense is allowing 8.0 points and 274.5 yards per game with three sacks, one fumble recovery, and two interceptions. Azeem Victor is Washington’s leading tackler with 14, Corey Littleton has 11 tackles, and JoJo McIntosh as nine tackles. The Washington defense has been stingy since the first half at Boise.
The Utah State Aggies fought the good fight on in week two against Utah but they came upshort to fall to 1-1 for the season. Utah State is averaging 13 points and 311.5 yards per game as the offense is definitely the weaker of the two units. USU QB Chuckie Keaton has completed 55.9 percent of his passes for 366 yards with two touchdowns and an interception and he has rushed for 53 yards. The Aggies ground game is led by LaJuan Hunt who averages 3.2 yards per carry and Devonte Robinson is their leading receiver with 9 catches. The Utah State defense is allowing 16.5 points 245 yards per game with five sacks but no takeaways. Nick Vigil leads the Utah State defense with 25 tackles, LT Fillaga has 18 tackles and David Moala and Kyler Fackrell each have 11 tackles. Utah State needs to eventually put points on the board if they want to beat the better teams.
Washington is 5-1 against the spread in their last six games, 19-9 against the spread in their last 28 home games, and 4-1 against the spread in December games. Utah State is 12-4-1 against the spread following a loss, 35-17-2 against the spread in their last 54 road games, and 1-4 against the spread in their last five September games.
This one should be a defensive war and getting better than a field goal with the Aggies is the play though I see Washington winning the game.
