The Army Black Knights visit L.T. Smith Stadium to take the field with the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers.
The Army Black Knights are the type of team when you overlook them, they come up big and that's exactly what we saw in a 35-21 victory over Connecticut to snap a three game skid. Both teams totaled around 360 yards with Army receiving a 99 yard pick six from Chris Carnegie with 28 seconds remaining to prevent the tie and preserve the win. With Angel Santiago throwing three times for 38 yards the Black Knights successcame on the ground behind their option attack that totaled 325 yards and averaged 5 1/2 yards per tote. Santiago paced the run with 97 yards 0n 25 carries with a pair of touchdowns while Raymond Naples and Larry Dixon combined for 96 yards on 17 touches with no less then nine players running the ball.
The Western Kentucky Hilltoppers are looking to finish the season strong with a postseason berth on their minds. The Hilltoppers took a step in that direction with a 35-27 decision over visiting Texas El Paso in week eleven. A 21-7 second half run by the Hilltoppers pulled out a crucial win with the much maligned WKY defense holding their own which hasn't happened often in 20014. UTEP won the yardage battle 394-388 with Western Kentucky doing the vast majority of their damage through the air which is what this team does best. Brandon Doughty connected on 23-34 for 324 yards with three touchdowns and no interceptions. Joel German led the WKY receiving corps with three catches for 92 yards including a 50 yard touchdown. The defense received a 90 yard pick six from Wonderful Terry but the special teams gave up a 92 yard kick return.
