The Florida Atlantic Owls get their chance at slowing the potent offense of the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers.
The Florida Atlantic Owls had high hopes of making some noise in 2015 but overall inconsistency has them staring at a 2-5 record following a 31-17 win against Florida International in week nine. The Owls were strong from start to finish with a 397-262 yardage edge while recovering a fumble and recording an interception. Quarterback Jaquez Johnson was 10-19 for 113 yards with Jason Driskel going 6-6 for 55 yards. Trey Rodriguez was key in the air and on the ground with three catches for 45 yards while running for 94 yards on 20 carries and a pair of touchdowns. Johnson and Greg Howell rounded out the top rushers with 64 yards and 59 yard respectively.
The Western Kentucky Hilltoppers have been lighting up scoreboards once again but their defense has been a bit more competitive. Both trends continued in a 55-30 rout of Old Dominion on the road with a 523-342 yardage edge. Quarterback Brandon Doughty was the motor for the Hilltoppers attack with 276 passing yards and three touchdowns on 21-28 with top target Nicholas Norris grabbing five balls for 117 yards including a 54 yard scoring strike. Anthony Wales gave the Hilltoppers plenty of production on the ground with 185 yards on 16 touches with four trips to the end zone.
The Owls are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 road games vs. a team with a winning home record and are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games following a ATS win while going 7-1 ATS in their last 8 games after allowing less than 100 yards rushing in their previous game. The over is 4-0 in Hilltoppers last 4 vs. a team with a losing record and is 4-0 in Hilltoppers last 4 home games while the Hilltoppers are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 home games vs. a team with a losing road record. The underdog is 5-0 ATS in their last 5 meetings. I Don’t think the Hilltoppers were at their best in week nine and hope for a better effort here…
