The Line: Western Michigan Broncos -23.5 -- Over/Under:
The Western Michigan Broncos collide with instate and conference rival the Eastern Michigan Eagles Saturday.
The Eastern Michigan Eagles are in need of some firepower on both sides of the ball as they are having trouble finding the endzone and keeping opponents off the scoreboard. Both were issues in a 38-7 defeat at the hands of visiting Central Michigan in week ten as they headed in to their bye on a down note. With both sides of the ball struggling the last thing the Eagles needed was to look up and see the Chippewas ahead 31-0 heading in to the locker room. The numbers told the story with CMU amassing 501 yards with EMU countering with just 97 yards. The Eagles didn't have anything going on the ground so quarterback Ralp Bolden tried to get things going through the air but his 7-19 effort for 76 yards with a touchdown and pick not being nearly enough.
The Western Michigan Broncos are right in the middle of the conference race if they can continue to pile up the victories. It's been so far, so good with four consecutive wins after a 41-10 rout of Miami (Ohio) on the road going in to their bye with plenty of momentum. WMU simply had too much for the Redhawks on both sides of the ball as they held Miami (Ohio) to just 236 yards with little threat on the ground or air. The Broncos had no such issues with 499 yards with the ability to run and throw effectively. Zach Terrell led an efficient air game by going 18-23 for 217 yards with a five yard touchdown toss to Corey Davis. Terrell addd 61 yards with his feet while Jarvion Franklin dominating the rushing attack with a 29 carry, 182 yard performance with a trio of touchdowns including a 55 yarder.
The under is 4-0 in Eagles last 4 games after accumulating less than 170 yards passing in their previous game and is 4-0 in Eagles last 4 games after allowing more than 200 yards rushing in their previous game and the Eagles are 0-5 ATS in their last 5 games following a double-digit loss at home. For Western Michigan the Broncos are 6-0 ATS in their last 6 conference games while the Broncos are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games after scoring more than 40 points in their previous game and 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games following a S.U. win. Head to head the underdog is 4-0 ATS in their last 4 meetings while the Eagles are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 meetings and 5-1 ATS in their last 6 meetings in Western Michigan. Huge spread and EMU is bad enough to get blown out by a good Western Michigan but for now it's WMU and I'll update Friday...
