The Delaware State Hornets hope to shake up college football world with a road upset of the Western Michigan Broncos.

The Delaware State Hornets fell to 0-2 in the early going with a 45-14 loss to the Saint Francis Red Flash on Saturday. Delaware State fell behind 28-7 after one quarter and never recovered.

Hornets quarterback Keenan Black struggled to hit his receivers as he completed 10-22 for 75 yards while running for 27 yards on ten totes with a TD. Jack McDaniels connected on 4-10 for 19 yards and an interception as DSU couldn’t stretch the field through the air.

Mike Waters gave Delaware State some tough yardage on the ground with 107 yards on 27 touches while Trey Gross and Kwannah Kollie combined for nine receptions for 68 yards. The Hornets special teams also struggled with the Red Flash scoring on a punt return.

The Western Michigan Broncos ran in to an angry Michigan squad in a 49-3 defeat to drop to 0-2. Nothing went favorably for Western Michigan with the Wolverines piling up a 451-208 yardage advantage with a mistake free afternoon.

Broncos quarterback Jon Wassink completed 16-34 for 85 yards and an interception and had no luck getting the ball downfield. D’Wayne Eskridge topped the WMU receiving corps with a pair of receptions for 20 yards while LeVante Bellamy paced the ground game with 65 yards on eleven carries.

Western Michigan wins easily here and the best that can be hoped for is a back door cover...

I have been a sports fan since I was old enough to pick up a ball and have always been drawn to competition. I don't participate in sporting events any longer but I do like to provide my opinion on games and writing gives me that outlet. I won't always be right but I always put 100% in to every article I do whether it's the World Series or an 0-10 college football team. Mitch shares that same passion and allows me to express myself in my own way.
