The Line: WKU Hilltoppers -6 -- Over/Under:
The Vanderbilt Commodores look to slowdown the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers..
The Vanderbilt Commodores struggled o get stops against Georgia Tech and the result was a 38-7 defeat as a touchdown road dog. Vandy lost the yardage battle 511-271 and never got going on the ground or in the air while the Yellow Jackets were able to do a little bit of everything. Ralph Webb was the Commodores rushing attack with 69 yards on 18 carries but that was hardly enough to draw too much attention from the Georgia Tech defense. Vanderbilt quarterback Kyle Shurmur connected on 17-26 for 149 yards and a touchdown and interception with Kalija Lipscomb making six catches for 59 yards and a score but this wasn’t enough to hang with a team that was moving the football consistently.
The Western Kentucky Hilltoppers were physically beaten up by Alabama in week two so many thought facing Miami (Ohio) would be welcome relief. Either WKU was still beat up or the Redhawks aren’t bad but a 31-24 victory as a 17 point favorite leaves Hilltoppers fans wondering where their team is. The Redhawks held a slight 424-404 yardage edge with WKU turning the ball over three times, Quinton Baker led Western Kentucky on the ground with 103 yards on 20 carries and a trip to the endzone while quarterback Mike White was 19-31 for 268 yards with a pair of touchdowns and an interception. Nicholas Norris was the Hilltoppers only real target with eleven catches for 187 yards including a 53 yard TD.
The Commodores are 7-0 ATS in their last 7 versus the CUSA and the under is 8-1-1 in Commodores last 10 games on fieldturf while going 7-1-1 in Commodores last 9 road games. The Hilltoppers are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 versus the SEC and the over is 6-1 in Hilltoppers last 7 games following a ATS loss while the Hilltoppers are 6-1 ATS in their last 7 home games. I’m not really confident with either team to be honest…
