The North Texas Mean Green will travel to L.T. Smith Stadium to take on the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers this Saturday afternoon in College Football action.

The North Texas Mean Green lost their 2nd straight game and dropped to 4-5 (2-3 C-USA) on the season after being defeated by the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs, 45-24, this past Saturday. North Texas had no answers for WR Carlos Henderson and couldn’t fight back after being down by a 31-21 margin at halftime. North Texas was outgained by Louisiana Tech by a 479-289 margin and committed 10 penalties in the loss. Leading the way for North Texas was QB Mason Fine who completed 23 of 34 passes for 207 yards, TD, and an INT. On the season, North Texas is averaging 25.7 ppg on 346.7 total yards per game (201.4 passing, 145.2 rushing). Offensively, North Texas has been led by RB Jeffrey Wilson who has 13 TD’s and is averaging 92.6 yds/game on 15.8 att/g. QB Mason Fine has completed 59.6% of his passes for 6 TD and 5 INT while averaging 173.7 passing yds/game. Thaddeous Thompson (3.4 rec/g, 47.3 yds/g, TD), Terian Goree (3.6 rec/g, 34.4 yds/g, 2 TD), and Kenny Buyers (2.8 rec/g, 26.3 yds/g, TD) are the leading receivers for the Mean Green. Defensively, North Texas is allowing their opponents to average 29.6 ppg on 412.6 total yards per game (208.3 passing, 204.2 rushing). North Texas has forced their opponents into committing 16 turnovers and has an overall turnover ratio of +2.

The Western Kentucky Hilltoppers won their 4th straight game and improved to 7-3 (5-1 C-USA) on the season after defeating the FIU Golden Panthers, 49-21, this past Saturday. Western Kentucky came out strong against FIU and had little trouble securing the victory after taking a 35-7 halftime lead. Western Kentucky outgained FIU by a 509-311 margin and won the turnover battle by a 3-2 margin. Leading the way for the Hilltoppers was RB Anthony Wales who had 4 TD’s and 111 yards on 12 carries. On the season, Western Kentucky is averaging 42.3 ppg on 506.5 total yards per game (339.6 passing, 166.9 rushing). Offensively, Western Kentucky is led by RB Anthony Wales who had 17 rushing TD’s on the season and is averaging 104.0 yds/game on 15.0 att/g. QB Mike White has completed 69.0% of his passes for 24 TD and 5 INT while averaging 605.7 passing yds/game. Taywan Taylor (7.1 rec/g, 117.4 yds/g, 10 TD), Nicholas Norris (5.9 rec/g, 93.4 yds/g, 10 TD), and Nacarius Fant (3.2 rec/g, 45.2 yds/g, 2 TD) are the leading receivers for the Hilltoppers. Defensively, Western Kentucky is holding their opponents to an average of 25.6 ppg on 381.2 total yards per game (273.1 passing, 108.1 rushing). Western Kentucky has committed 15 turnovers on the season and has an overall turnover margin of -2.

The Mean Green are 3-1-1 ATS vs. a team with a winning record and 5-2-1 ATS in their last 8 games overall. The Hilltoppers are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games in November however, just 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games following a ATS loss.

North Texas has been more competitive than expected in C-USA this season and has done a much better job this season on the defensive side of the ball as they come in with the 40th ranked passing defense, which is a major accomplishment when playing in the C-USA. Western Kentucky is once again one of the best teams in the C-USA and has one of the better offenses in the country as the Hilltoppers have the 10th ranked passing offense and 12th ranked scoring offense. North Texas certainly will have its hands full in trying to slow down the high-powered Hilltoppers offense, however, in games against the C-USA best (MTSU, Louisiana Tech, and UTSA), the Mean Green have only lost by an average of 17.3 ppg and although I don't think North Texas will be playing for a victory at the end of this game, I think the Mean Green will be able to do enough to cover with this large amount of points. Take North Texas to cover.

Pick:
North Texas Mean Green +30
