The Wyoming Cowboys look to break in to the win column when the Nevada Wolf Pack visit.
The Nevada Wolf Pack don’t possess a big scoring offense so controlling the scoreboard and scoring when the opportunity arises is their game. The Wolf Pack did both in a 35-17 win against visiting New Mexico. Nevada won the yardage battle 517-273 and just as important they controlled the Lobos rushing attack and made a team that can’t throw put the ball in the air. Quarterback Tyler Stewart was deadly efficient in leading Nevada to 166 yards on 16-19 with a pair of touchdowns with favorite target Jerico Richardson catching nine balls for 121 yards and a TD. It was still on the ground where the Wolf Pack did their damage with the duo of Don Jackson and James Butler combining for 297 yards on 43 carries.
If I had to describe the Wyoming Cowboys I would say this is a team that is offensively challenged and the defense won’t win on their lonesome. That trend continued in a 31-17 defeat the Air Force where the Falcons were held to 379 yards but the Cowboys managed just 307 yards and committed four turnovers. Quarterback Cameron Coffman struggled to a 15-29 effort for 192 yards and a pair of touchdowns and two killer interceptions. Tanner Gentry and Jake Maulhardt led the Pokes in receiving with nine catches for 141 yards with Maulhardt scoring twice. Brian Hill gave Wyoming a viable rushing attack with 128 yards on 24 carries but this game wasn’t winnable with too many mistakes.
The under is 4-0 in Wolf Pack last 4 games after allowing less than 170 yards passing in their previous game and Nevada are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games following a S.U. win while the under is 6-1 in Wolf Pack last 7 vs. a team with a losing record. The Cowboys are 1-6 ATS in their last 7 games after scoring less than 20 points in their previous game and the over is 5-1 in Cowboys last 6 games after scoring less than 20 points in their previous game while Wyoming are 2-9 ATS in their last 11 games after allowing more than 200 yards rushing in their previous game. If the Cowboys could score a little I’d feel confident in this pick…
