Australia is set to host India at the MCG in Melbourne for the third and final One Day International of the series. India and Australia are currently tied at 1-1 so the winner of this fixture will win the series.
Australia won the first match of the series thanks to an impressive display by bowler, Jhye Richardson who took 4 wickets. Unfortunately for the Australians, they were outplayed in the second ODI as the majority of the batsman failed to push past 40 runs. Shaun Marsh was the exception for Australia as the batsman scored an impressive 100 to give the bowlers a total to defend. In the end, Australia was comfortably beaten as the bowlers failed to get early wickets which meant that India could ease to victory.
The Indian team seems to be in good form as they enter this final ODI. It was surprising to watch the Indian team lose the opening match, especially since they were let down by their reliable batting unit. The batsman bounced back strongly in the second ODI as captain, Virat Kohli, scored a magnificent 100. MS Dhoni also looks to be back in good form as he scored a vital 50 to get the team over the line. India are missing some key bowler as Jasprit Bumrah which means the team is conceding more runs than usual. That being said, India have a very strong batting unit and the team will feel that they should be able to outscore their opponents.
The MCG pitch has been very slow this season as was evident during the Boxing Day test match. These conditions should suit India more than Australia as the visitors are more comfortable when playing on a slower wicket.
Taking everything into consideration, I am going to pick India to win this match. India have the stronger team. Furthermore, India have a batting unit that is firing while Australia have batsmen who are underperforming. With the conditions expected to suit India, I see the visitors winning the match and the series.
