Australia are set to play against Pakistan in the ICC Test Championship. The second Test match will be played at the Adelaide Oval in Adelaide. Australia currently leads this series 1-0 after winning the match in Brisbane.
Australia were dominant during the opening fixture at the Gabba. The bowlers were especially impressive as they took 20 wickets on a very flat pitch. Josh Hazlewood, Pat Cummins, and Mitchell Starc combined to take 18 wickets which left Australia in a very dominant position. The Australian batting was led by David Warner (154) and Marnus Labuschagne (185) as both batsmen scored centuries. Joe Burns also batted well as he scored 97 runs. Australia are looking good in all areas and the team will be confident in their ability to win this fixture.
On the other side of the coin, Pakistan struggled with the ball. The Pakistani bowlers allowed Australia to score over 600 runs and allowed them to score over 200 runs before taking the first wicket. Imran Khan was very poor as he bowled without consistency of discipline. Mohammad Abbas is expected to return for this match which should give the bowling more control. The batting was not great from Pakistan although there were positives. Babar Azam batted exceptionally well in the second innings as he scored an impressive century. Mohammad Rizwan and Asad Shafiq also contributed with runs. Pakistan will need to improve significantly if they wish to compete in this match.
The pitch at the Adelaide Oval is expected to be flat and good for batting. There is expected to be some rain during the Test match which could have an impact.
Pakistan should have a better game at the Adelaide Oval since the conditions will favor them more than those in Brisbane. That being said, I still see Australia winning this match. Australia are a very strong side and they have shown that they are much stronger than Pakistan. I see Australia taking the series 2-0.
