Bangladesh -509 / Afghanistan +350
Bangladesh play against Afghanistan in the 2019 ICC World Cup. This match is set to be played at the Rose Bowl in Southampton.
Bangladesh lost their previous match as they were beaten by Australia. As it currently stands, Bangladesh have 5 points from 6 games.
Bangladesh were let down by their bowling in the match against Australia. The bowling from the likes of Rubel Hossain and Mashrafe Mortaza was poor as they allowed Australia to score 381 runs. The fielding was also poor from Bangladesh as they missed multiple runouts and dropped multiple catches.
While the bowling and fielding was below par, Bangladesh batted extremely well. Mushfiqur Rahim was outstanding as the batsman scored 102 runs off 97 balls. Tamim Iqbal and Mahmudullah both batted well also. 381 was a huge total to chase and while Bangladesh failed, they managed to score 333 which was a very good effort.
Bangladesh have a good chance of making the semi-finals so the players will be desperate to return to winning ways in this match.
Afghanistan suffered a close defeat to India. That loss means that Afghanistan have no points in this tournament.
Afghanistan bowled extremely well against India as Rashid Khan led the team well. Afghanistan only allowed India to score 224 which was very impressive considering the talent in the Indian batting line-up. Mujeeb Ur Rahman was also very good as the spinner took vital wickets including dismissing Rohit Sharma.
The batting was poor from Afghanistan as they failed to build their chase. Mohammad Nabi scored a half-century but the rest of the Afghan batsmen didn’t have enough quality to handle the Indian bowling.
The Rose Bowl hosted Afghanistan’s game against India. Judging from that match, the Rose Bowl should favor spin. Both Bangladesh and Afghanistan should enjoy playing at the Rose Bowl.
Taking everything into consideration, I am going to pick Bangladesh to win this match. Afghanistan have the bowlers but their batting doesn’t have enough quality to compete in this tournament. Bangladesh have most bases covered and on a spinning wicket, they should be good enough to get the 2 points.
